Love this setup for everyday and weekend overlanding. It strikes a good balance between power and gas mileage. I had 35" tires originally and didnt like the road feel and noise.

Which 35's and which 285/75's.

OP:
Many 35's are still 34.5" vs the 285/75 at 33.9". Only .6" difference , or .3" radius difference.

I went with what showed up first, 35 x 11.5 - 17 Toyo Oc AT3.
11.5 would be very close to a 290 metric.

I put them on my base Base, no lift, removed crash bars ... no problems so far.

They are a Load range C tire. The charts suggested about 33psi, which really helped calm the ride down.

The 35" tire took my manual Base with 4.46 gears from being very overgeared, to being just slightly undergeared.
I think it actually drives a quite a bit smoother this way.

a true/actual 33" tire is probably the sweet spot for the 4.46 gear set. I'm not sure that dropping down to 33.9" from my 35's would get me where I'd want to be for OPTIMAL gearing.
In the end, it runs out pretty well on the 35's.
6th gear is about useless, but I just cruise in 5th now.
On the interstate 78 mph on the 30's in 6th was 2500 rpm
On the 35's in 5th , it is 2700rpm.
Fuel mileage did not suffer too bad for me.

Crash bars removed. I wheel this thing regularly and its not missed a beat. I want to upgrade to the Ford performance front axle and 4.46 diff

I think this photo shows the exact stance I’m looking for. Found your post because I was searching for photos of these wheels.

i see you removed your crash bars. Do you think the slim crash bars would work with the zero offset? I’d prefer to keep them on, so if the slim crash bars don’t work I may go +20 offset. Great looking ride 👍

What is biggest tire I can put on a standard BB w/o removing the crash bars, or lifting?
285/75R17 fits a big bend on stock wheels.

whats the offset on the big bend wheels? I like the idea of not having to remove crash bars as well.
+55mm. To my knowledge all non SAS are +55mm and SAS are +30mm.

Looks awesome. Did you have to remove crash bars? Also does your rear camera clear the wheel or do you see the wheel in the camera lens?

I removed crash bars, because there was an ever so slight rub during full turn backing up. I replaced them with low profile crash bars, because you do NOT want to drive without them!

The rear camera is no issue, backup picture is unaffected and did not have to change or reposition anything.

Going to 285/70 is easy and does not create additional pressures on any component that would cause a problem.

My speedo shows 70 while actual is 72, but that is the same variance as from factory, just on the other side of legal - so I did not worry about that at all.

share a pic when you have yours mounted!

I was toying with the idea of ordering a Badlands for the 33 inch tires but after seeing this video showing that 285's fit a Black Diamond without any spacers or lift, I am going Black Diamond.

What's up with markups these days? Anyone know if Crossroads Ford in Apex, NC will do anything like that? Ford already increased prices 2x while I was making up my mind. I could have bought a Badlands for what a Black Diamond now costs. Such is life.
I’m running 285/75r 17s on my Big Bend. I have a 2.5 in level kit. They are working out great.

Here is a 285/75/18 on a 18x9 with +12 Offset. These tires are an inch Taller than the Sasquatch Tires. 1" level lift included on Sasquatch Suspension. The outside of the tire is even with the outside of the Fender Flares..
