Does anyone think I can run a similar size 285’s width and height in an 18 on my 21 OB with stick trim?
Which 285?

285/60-18 = 31.5 x 11.2 (basically stock but wider , a 32")
285/65-18 = 32.6 x 11.2 (base Badlands 18" equivalent , a 33")
285/70-18 = 33.7 x 11.2 ( would be considered a 34")
285/75-18 = 34.8 x 11.2 ( a 35 , a touch taller than Squatch tires, 1.3 inches skinnier)

Wow, those 18"s = $$$$, after the 60 series , the others get expensive fast!

IN THEORY ....
In theory, the 60's, 65's & 70's should fit no issue, until you get over 34" or wider than 285's ...ON FACTORY WHEELS.

Most likely, the 75's will require removal of the crash bars, per the thread linked by Zack.
AGAIN .... IN THEORY.
Nobody knows for sure yet.

thanks for that info. I think the 285/70/18 might be the sweet spot with a small spacer for a touch of a poke.

I'm in the same boat as you and finding that I may have to switch to 17" rims because that vast majority of all terrain tires around a 33" inch size have an E load index. I don't know much about tired but apparently that will destroy the ride quality. F

As I have said previously elsewhere. I think that a second set of rims with a different offset will give you a bit more room. I am pretty convinced that there should be enough room to slide a 33.5" tire in there on a +30 offset 17"x9" rim. In my case, I ordered the RTR Tech 6 17"x9" +30 rims with Milestar Patagonia M/T 295/70R17 tires. This is only reducing the overall clearance by 0.7" with a 0.7" gain in ride height. If 3/4" is too much upward travel, I will be shocked. I plan to pull the crash bars if necessary. I think that the stock offset of +55 will be part of the limiting factor with regard to tire size.

Hello guys.

I'm pretty much set on a 2d outer banks, no options. (I think it's the best bangxbuck here in canada)

The only problem is those stupid minivan tires. Anyone on the same situation? Is it possible to swap to more aggressive 33s without a lift?
I also got OBX and ordered 17x9 RTR with same offset as original bronco Sasquatch wheels. Plan to put 315x70 on them Keep original tires for winter or spare use

Welcome, 35" tires on the OBX will give you 1.10" less travel then the stock Sasquatch, if you want 35" tires it will be cheaper to just order your OBX with the Sasquatch package.

Please understand just throwing larger tires on can sometimes cause issues, unless you do at least a 1" lift. Depending on your usage, you may experience rubbing, articulation limitations, etc. Not off-roading fine, but wait until you hit a speed bump or pothole, it will not be pretty.

Actually, considering that a 1" lift is $59.95 (call it $100 if you install it yourself) and that rims and tires are around $2000, but we'll round up a little and call it $2500 for everything. The Sasquatch package is going to roughly double the price of the 1" lift and aftermarket rims/tires ($4995 on the OBX).

Don't get me wrong, I am not staying that there is no value in the Bilsteins, but... I could add some King 2.5's at $3190 and still be very close to the price of the Sasquatch package.

You’re completely forgetting the 4.7 gearing and lockers in that equation, but sure.

It's intellectually dishonest to equate the cost of the Sasquatch package with only the suspension components and what an equivalent cost for aftermarket suspension components cost. There is the additional value of front/rear lockers, 4.7 gearing, and stronger front axle.

Fair enough, I did forget the front locker. However that doesn't change the fact that the Sasquatch package (as good of a deal as it is) is still 2x the cost of a budget lift and tires. That was my point. I wasn't trying to suggest that the sasquatch package wasn't worth it (plus I just woke up - cut me a small amount of slack for missing that locker).

Be interesting to see if there are a rash of failures over time with the apparently decently high numbers of folks intending to go 33" and larger on the 190 pumpkin.
