Thanks Legend

I added the dimensions. here’s OBX stock on the right and 275/70/r18s on the left.

looks like it fits. I played around with different pivot points depending on where the ball joint is located. Or is the pivot point where the bearings meet the back of the brake caliper? Im not exactly sure. It seems like the further back the pivot point, the tire will hit the crash bars with the bigger tire. Am i thinking about this wrong? Where should the pivot point be located?

Not to completely derail the topic, but has it been confirmed that 16" wheels will fit as I'm determining all tire options? I tried a search and didn't find a definitive answer.

Found my pivot point on the Sasquatch

just inside the rim. So that’s the plane and I could use the centerline of that plane as a pivot point.

Okay I carried that over to a Sasquatch wheel using Legends dimensions to crash bars. You could see why the bars are removed for the sasquatch when the wheel is turned. I carried over the same pivot point from the control arm onto an OBX with 275/70/r18s. It just misses the crash bars by an 1/8” when turned. Very close to the crash bar behind the wheel and probably not as big of a concern for the crash bar in front of the wheel since it sits higher above the curvature of the wheel. Photo below shows sas stationary, sas turned, then 275/70/r18 on OBX turned

So I’m sold on that tire type. Maybe some occasional rubbing on the back bar which will need to be modified.

And here is a zoom in. Yikesss. But it fits! Inner red box is stock OBX tire, outer red box is upgraded tire

Awesome work. Now I'm concerned about putting 285/70r17s on a stock BD. Not due to the diameter, but the width of the tire.

Ya I am thinking they will not fit unless those bars are removed. But with them removed it looks like you can go up to 285/75x17s if you wanted.

They actually fit better. New tire size on 17s in blue. You miss the crash bar by 1/4” instead of 1/8”

What would 255/80R17 look like clearance wise?

you’re actually narrower than even the stock bd tires, should be good. Height wise if a 285/75 fits (33.8” tall) should be fine. 285/70 is 32.7” tall.

So it does...
285/70/17
or
275/70/18

I think those bars just need to come out.

This is also giving us worst case scenario because @LEGEND said they are on different planes and not lined up. So if they are a little above or below center we will gain some room.

looks like the back one is the worst but still looks up above center, front might be high enough to miss most sizes.

^^

Yup, its the one in the back that will be a problem. Its fairly close to center of the wheel. I just ran the number in AutoCad, you would only pick up another 1/8" clearance. But if you are going over a bump, etc that extra 1/8" goes away.

Thanks for clarifying. I really want to cram 285/75’s in there ?

sounds like worst case is a leveling kit in the front. Thanks again for all the info guys!
