So I am planning to get an OBX and increasing the gears to the 4.27 instead of going with sas. Am I screwed if I want to increase the tire size to 35s later? Or is the 4.27 enough? I understand the sas comes with 4.7

You not screwed but it is probably cheaper to get it done at the factory.

only because Iā€™m new at this, how is the 4.7 that comes with sas better? Will the torque be higher?
I would out all of the numbers into a gearing calculator and look at the numbers.

http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html

You need to enter the transfer case and transmission info too but they are prepopulated in this calculator. One would have the advanced transfer case (geared lower) and one would not, so the difference is more than just the rear end. Compare the numbers to the 4.7...way too big of a difference for me. I think after looking at both you would be undergeared at 4.27. You really have to look at the numbers and avoid anecdotes as all 3 things (transfer case, tranny, rear end) effect the final drive ratios. Read up on it some and run the numbers with 4.7 as a baseline for 35s (Ford stock ratio).

He asked whether 4.27 gearing would be okay with 35s. Thatā€™s questionable. Read it again and try not to be an ass.

The difference at 70mph is over 220RPMs in 10th. At 10MPH, itā€™s over 300rpms in 1st and second. It is significant.

Thank you everyone for your input. When it comes to vehicles, I pretty much just know how to drive them. I hope to increase my knowledge and know my Bronco like the back of my hand as years go on, but as of now, most everything youā€™ll said goes right over my head. I think my best bet is to go with the Sasquatch package and just change the wheels out later. This seams to be the easiest option for me and Iā€™ll know everything will work flawlessly.
Thanks again!
