Hi! Based on what I have read on the forum lately, the E Rating provides more plys and the ability for much more PSI. Because of this, it will also have a stiffer sidewall, hence a stiffer, harsher ride.

I am choosing between two A/T tire types now:

1.) 40 lb. Standard Load (SL) with a max. 44 PSI
2.) 48 lb. E Rated with a max. 80 PSI

Seems like I should get the SL for a 95% daily driver.

Agree? Thoughts? Thanks!

10 ply has a bad rap. I put MT's on my rigs all the time. Unless you are towing the titanic, I would never air them up to 80 - that would be kidney busters. Also depends on the tire mfg as some are more "road compliant" that others. I am particularly fond of Yoko MT G003's - waiting for my tire guy to swap them out on the Tremor I just picked up whilst I wait like everyone else for the Bronco.

The PSI rating is not as important as the weight rating. Make sure the tire has a minimum weight rating that matches your needs. A load range "C" is the lowest I would want. "E" is major overkill unless you are spending a lot of time off road.

I hated the "E" load range tires on my Superduty. I'm sure I would really hate them on a Bronco.

95% should tell you something 🤷‍♂️

i would stick with SL- in terms of weight, ride, and noise i'm not a fan of E Load rating but i live in NY and dont tow or do serious off roading or anything- in my experience it's usually more of a weight difference too- when i looked it was 60 pounds per tire vs 40

E is overkill, but an SL tire is going to puncture from a twig. My wife had P rated tires on her Expy and they went flat from a cholla spine.

I'll be putting E rated tires on my base. C would be fine, but selection is terrible. For every C rated tire out there there are 80 E rated ones.

Thanks! @AZ_Liberty - Please report back if you find an 'E' that rides fairly smoothly and quietly on highways. I am getting a Base, too.

Another reason 35" tires are not a great choice for daily drivers.

I have Cooper Discoverer HT3 tires on the Wife's Expedition. I'll either go with those or with General Grabbers.
