Do you have a suggestion for an upgrade? Or is it something you built yourself?
You used to be able to buy grounding kits... Expensive I'm sure. They included grounding to chassis, to engine, to injector rail, to alternator, etc....
I'd just make my own. 18" crimped 1/0 or something 👍

Can you expand a bit on this upgraded ground? Electrical noob here, and planning out a trunk auxiliary battery system.

The factory ground point behind right rear panel is a very good ground. But it can’t hurt to run a new ground like OP did.

"Run a new ground" meaning running an equal gauge wire from the trunk-mounted device back directly to the main battery?

Yes. Just like OP to the vehicle side of battery monitor, not the battery terminal bolt. Would be wise to put the positive wire in additional flex loom. As seen here in mine with water proof grommet and bushing I made.

Man that wire looks beefy and it's only 6 gauge? I can't imagine how big the 0/1 guage is that you are supposed to use for winches.
I'd say it's about this thick - lol

For anyone looking to do this on a budget, find "Welding wire" for cheap. it is usually high strand count solid copper, in every size possible..

Another option is hitting the junkyards for 05-2010ish chargers/magnums/300/challengers. they have a beefy battery cable running from the battery in the trunk to the engine bay, and are usually about 25-30ft long.
