Last time for me on these threads:
Ford put 7.5 into many thousands of Broncos and said 7 refill was correct.
Ford changed their mind and said refill is 6 while still doing an initial fill of 7.5.
Ford may have said they now have an initial fill of 6.5……(I’m not sure on this point)…….nor do I care
You may use 6 or 7 quarts for your oil change.

Your turn Rob…….

I'm running 7 also.... still believe Ford did not want the expense of a dip stick recall... Ford has never denied this and never will...

The only thing that has been confirmed, is that at one point Ford was overfilling them from the factory. (Aka well past the max level on the dip stick)

Ford has doubled, and tripled down on it being 6 quarts. All versions of their official dipsticks, agree with 6 quarts. Some folks have even reported picking up their new Bronco with the oil correctly at the max line (personally I'll find out for myself in about a week or two)

Some Ford engineer, mentioned 7 quarts Way back when, in an interview, and it has been a topic of debate on this forum since.

The only thing Ford has said about 7 quarts is they claim it will not harm the engine.

As far as the OP, put in 6 or 7...that is your preference. For me personally, I never understood the whole attitude of "I don't measure, I just replace what was there". This is a bad approach...for example, a vehicle that uses 6 quarts that burns 1 quart between oil changes....well I'd say you got 2-3 oil changes left before you blow that puppy up!
You got a modern vehicle burning a quart between changes, get rid of it.

Afraid of the expense of a technician swapping out a <$1 part in three seconds during regular scheduled maintenance? Heck, even the dealership salespeople could 'perform' this recall in the time it takes them to hand out a business card. So I'm not sure I buy that explanation.

After all, this is the company that let thousands of Broncos sit outside for months until they could fix the hard tops, at a massive cost.

After averaging every debate on the innanets about the Bronco 2.7 oil cap, I have taken the liberty of calculating the perfect capacity for you all. Factoring in keyboard warriors like myself who know it all, Ford techs who know nothing, and every little bit of two cents given by y’all, (mine’s worth ten), I have determined that 6.47249386 Qts is the correct amount.

There has been so much confusion and Mis information on this issue. So it’s 7 quarts in the 2.7. What about the 2.3L. ?
2.3L is 6 quarts.

Now pull out the popcorn while we watch 2.7L owners argue about this for the billionth time.

Shit, why didn’t I think of this?. Thanks for the post. Now on to add more oil. And Amsoil thought they were smart with their 25k mile oil changes.

As funny as the whole conversation is, I have literally done 6.5 quarts since my first oil change, noting the oil position on the dipstick each time. It’s amazingly consistent. I do my own oil changes, letting the oil drain until it stops (no rush doing it myself). I have noticed no I’ll affects such as smoke from the tailpipe when at extreme angles off road or oil or moisture residue on the fill cap. It also seemingly uses no oil between oil changes (5k miles, Motorcraft filter, Mobil 1 5/30 “truck”). I am often a middle of the road kind of guy, seems to work for me. Hopefully others can sleep well knowing you can use 6 quarts 7 quarts or something in between on your 2.7 and motor along in confidence!

I changed mine before I knew about this issue, put in 7 qts and it will blow oil out the dipstick if you get on it hard.

Next time I will use 6qts.
