Well we all know about the 6 or 7 quart debate on the 2.7. On my first oil change months ago I had it done at the dealership, when I picked it up I asked how much oil they put in it, they said 6 quarts and the paperwork showed 6. Yesterday I did my own oil change so I could install my Ronnin Factory drain plug, low and behold I drained out 7 quarts of oil WTF! So I filled it with 7 quarts this whole thing has been a total cluster. Looks like 7 for me from now on.

There has been so much confusion and Mis information on this issue. So it’s 7 quarts in the 2.7. What about the 2.3L. ?

The official word from Ford is 6 quarts. The owners manual should change with the new update.

Well, depending on your source, the amount of oil has been incorrectly noted in a couple different places. That’s kind of automotive 101 stuff. So while debacle might not be the correct descriptor, it is pretty lame that’s there’s any confusion at all.

It was incorrect once, then ford revised the amount, and it’s been 6 quarts since then. There’s literally nothing to be confused about.

Not sure why we need a whole new thread about this.

Ford Bronco 6 or 7 quarts oil engine capacity debacle for my 2.7! A453EFF5-DEFC-44AD-83DE-4C43F4F3FAFE

Huh… Well here’s the latest workshop manual and owners manual information. So much for your “confirmation”

Posting false information doesn’t make it true 🤷‍♂️

Real life mine is running 6. So is every other bronco currently being serviced at dealerships and other shops around the world that are using the correct and current information from Ford.

Well, not every one. You need to read the other threads. This really was settled some time ago.

Yes, every single one that is following the correct information.

Unlike you, I work for Ford. I don’t just read incorrect forum posts, so maybe you need to re-read it. Because the current specification from Ford is 6 quarts whether you like it or not.

The only thing that has been confirmed, is that at one point Ford was overfilling them from the factory. (Aka well past the max level on the dip stick)

Ford has doubled, and tripled down on it being 6 quarts. All versions of their official dipsticks, agree with 6 quarts. Some folks have even reported picking up their new Bronco with the oil correctly at the max line (personally I'll find out for myself in about a week or two)

Some Ford engineer, mentioned 7 quarts Way back when, in an interview, and it has been a topic of debate on this forum since.

The only thing Ford has said about 7 quarts is they claim it will not harm the engine.

As far as the OP, put in 6 or 7...that is your preference. For me personally, I never understood the whole attitude of "I don't measure, I just replace what was there". This is a bad approach...for example, a vehicle that uses 6 quarts that burns 1 quart between oil changes....well I'd say you got 2-3 oil changes left before you blow that puppy up!
