Once VW told my uncle they had no new products in the R&D pipeline to replace the Beetle, he took on the Datsun franchise and I got to see the 1960s Nissan Patrol for the first time. Clearly they studied the Land Rover 88. Those old Patrols deserve serious respect.

In global markets, what is known as the Armada in NA is sold in global markets as the Patrol. So it's all about that all-important heritage (alike the Heritage Edition's critical role for the Bronco brand).
