40mpg e-hybrid? Crazy to put 40" tires on a road going vehicle. They would have a lot of service department complaints about highway driving.

*Edit*
After further review of the picture specifically pointing to an apparent river crossing my guess is 40.4" (deep river) and that will be the new water fording capability of Jeeps "sasquatch" package. Likely 37s.

Yeah there’s almost no chance it’s a 40” tire option. I’m honestly not sure how Ford is doing 37’s, but 40’s are an entirely different beast all together. A 37” is already about 30% heavier than a 35” tire, which is already 30% heavier than a 33” tire. A 40” is about 30% heavier than that 37”… that is a lot of strain on the drivetrain.

I found this rendering on a Pinterest UK site called “4x4 channel TV”. Searched using Google and keywords “Jeep departure angle images”.

Coincidence?

40.4 is the current departure angle. There was a spy shot of a rubicon with 35 inch stock tires. There was a thread on here about it. My guess.. this is an indication that Jeep is going to announce the 35” OEM tire option for the rubicon. They are doing this now since it’s “Bronco week”

And here we go - that Xtreme Recon package will be on dealer lots before most of us get Broncos with actual tops on them...

The article doesn't mention lockers though. If they leave the lockers off the non-Rubicons, there is still a Ford advantage.

Yah, and if they do it like the Sasquatch package, where they include the 35" tires and both lockers, available on all trims, AND can deliver faster than the Broncos... then Ford is likely going to lose some (a lot of?) sales over this.

Probably, but other buyers will simply step into their shoes. Bronco is basically sold out for 2 years, and people are still interested in placing orders.

The blog post reads as if the package includes tires, rims, 4.56 diffs, lift, and shocks. So, seems you're right. You're running open diffs, except the Rubicon.
