Accident/Death at Silver Lake, MI Dunes

The accident wasn't in a Bronco or fullsize vehicle, but thought I would share since many of us plan to play with our Broncos at Silver Lake. Very sad and tragic. There is no substitute for proper training, education, and guidance... Our 14 y.o. will be joining me for an upcoming Bronco Off-Roadeo in Austin. He is also enrolled in driver education starting next month.

Unfortunately I have experienced this firsthand. Back in college I met a group of friends up there for the weekend (went to GVSU) and witnessed someone in the group (friend of a friend) get hit head-on in the drag area about 50 yards from me. He was on a dirt bike and was hit by an older GMC SUV. I was the 2nd person to get to him and it was clear he was no longer with us. The dirt-bike made the mistake of turning in front of the row of cars lined up to watch the racing instead of behind as a group was making their way down the course. This is very sad. Unfortunately, this happens too often on 4 wheelers, dirt bikes, jet skis, and other powerful vehicles. People mistake the small size of the vehicle as a "toy" when it is possible more dangerous than other types of vehicles.

oof. that's horrible. Really puts our "problems" regarding the bronco into perspective.
