I'm still struggling to understand if the GOAT modes will be useful or if they're not a big deal. I'm getting a base model so no locking axles or sway bar disconnect. I'm guessing though that the modes may affect control traction control and shift points though. Would it be possible to later add modes by some sort of reprogramming and if so, would it be worth it?

We don’t have any information that would suggest you can add GOAT modes on your own.

Has anyone hacked that with the Raptor or other Ford? Sync4?

What modes are you looking for? I'm willing to bet that most of them can be manually simulated. Like for instance, Baja Mode. The Base doesn't have it, but it does have Sport Mode. Select Sport Mode, 4H, and traction control off - Base Baja Mode.

Looking at the vids from KOH it seems the goat modes are pretty good or at least Baja and sand from what I saw people saying. Would guess the other one's would be pretty good.

If they indeed help, mud and rock modes.

While you can achieve similar results to baja mode with sport, you can't replicate the abs tuning and advancetrac tuning.

The other goat modes involve a locker or two ago are probably of minimal use on the Base. Can't think of the third one: rock, Baja, something.

I highly doubt sport mode will be anything like baja at speed on loose ground. The amount of wheel spin and sideways sliding allowed would be fairly different if they are tuned to do what they are meant for. Not to mention brake settings. One is meant for pavement with no wheel spin. The other is meant for very loose ground.

Dude. 🤣
Your other thread is you adding LSD and lockers now you want to program your own GOAT modes? I think you should just buy some bulk steel and build your own vehicle. 🤣

This was discussed a while back and someone linked to this Ranger thread:

https://www.ranger5g.com/forum/threads/terrain-management-upgrade.4901/

They basically figured out how to add the terrain management feature to the lower trim Rangers using a factory knob/switch and some forscan programming. Not exactly the same as GOAT modes, but just shows how clever and resourceful some people are.

If it can be done, someone will figure it out fairly quickly.

There may be one added complication with starting from a base model - it might not even have all of the control modules needed to add the full functionality you're looking for.

I realize it's not a direct comparison but, as one example - to put heated mirrors on my 2021 Focus SE, I would've needed to install door control modules.
