Air Filter Condition @ 5K Miles After Some Off-Roading... Check It

I did not expect the air filter to be a cone like that. Figured it would be flat. Also a bit surprised that it looks less "fuzzy" than a normal OEM filter.

You know I used to do performance air filters, I really love the reusable ones (But not the oil ones). But I know that they let in more dust so I had planned on sticking with factory for the Bronco due to the fact that I'd be off-roading a lot. And looking at that now I wonder if aftermarket actually might produce up better quality filter.

CAI And off-road vehicles don't really go well together.. well I guess unless you never plan on going in any water.

I've emailed most a ftermarket companies and they all said their working on it. The factory filter acctially did fine. It was covered in dust but inside the filter it was clean.

The air filter should get dirty in dirty conditions. Then conditions and the quality of the filter determine the replacement timeframe. A dirty filter is not cause for concern unless dirt is getting through it or it is plugged. This one appears to be doing it's job.

You are very correct. It did its job perfectly.i have no concern with it. Just would prefer a reusable. This will get expensive quick

Would something like the Roush Intake help much - or would that thing need to be cleaned weekly? NOT CHEAP. Curious on how this will tie into a tune.

Does K&N make a re-usable yet?

Just look up flow test and dirt trapping online and you would never Ever use a K&N ever again. I use Napa Gold every online test has them flowing as well as k&n without all the dirt getting past.
