AirTag put on my Bronco to track me

No based on the map, it appears to have fallen off and not tracking anymore before I reached our neighborhood.

Got to ask the obvious here because I’m curious. Looks like you traveled from a dense area on a busy street. Is it not possible that someone next to you in a car had one, and when you turned off it broke the connection with your phone?

It was from the Houston Galleria area to Katy, around a 40 minute drive on a 5-6 lane, high speed limit highway (I-10), so that would have been impossible, but good question! For a portion of the road, I was also in the HOV lane, so far from other cars.
We suspect someone put it on the vehicle when it was parked and eventually (and thankfully before I got home!!) it fell off.

Not sure how that would be used in this case…they put the AirTag on either your person (coat/backpack/purse) or vehicle and track you. For the vehicle, they’d track it and when you’re away from it, try and steal it.

I got em hidden in my 21 Bronco, in my 72 Bronco, my gun case, my wallet, my keys, my briefcase, my tractor, my quad, my diesel pusher. Put em in my suitcases when traveling. I got em everywhere,lol. Very handy.

I do the same thing. Have one tucked away in a very discrete place in my tractor in case it gets stolen. Also have it in my Audi R8, F-150, and some other things like laptop bag.

No, it’s an Apple device that shows up. It was placed on the outside of the vehicle. It was an AirTag.

This is the alert that comes up. The app, Find My IPhone alerts you that an unknown accessory has been following you/near you. The accessories that can be added to and tracked by Find My IPhone are AirTags.

theyre amazing honestly. If you are attempting to locate your item then everyone walking around with an iPhone becomes a sensor. Obviously this is pretty nefarious abuse of them by thieves.
