Did you install the ditch lights yourself? Did you have them connected to the Aux switch panel? If so, did you put the on/off and backlight only on two of the switches? It all started 7/13/20, 4pm AK time when the Ford Bronco reveal video started. I immediately started the reservation process and was successful at 4:05pm (8:05pm Eastern). Then the wait for order banks, finally 2/2/21 my order went in, May I received my vin and build week. July 23rd she was built, then promptly sent to dirt mountain. 10/14/21 the built email, shipped 10/18/21, arrived in Anchorage, AK 11/10/21 and I took delivery today 11/12/21 to my extreme delight!
I'm 32 and been a Ford fan all my life, I work in the vehicle upftting business for work, so I work with all the dealership fleet departments. My saleswoman is the fleet manager and I've know her all my life. It was an awesome experience buying my first brand new vehicle from her.
All that out of the way, the Velocity Blue Bronco, a 2.7, Outerbanks, sasquatch, Lux, MIC, Tow, upfitter switches and rubber floor mats.
I received it with 25 miles on it, the MIC 2.0 is pretty good, few slightly questionable edges but overall pretty good.
Driving my Bronco off the lot was the first time I'd ever driven one. What a hell of an experience! The roads are very winter like, so I couldn't romp on it much but what I could do, the 2.7 was impressive! 75mph on the highway there's some tire noise and slight wind noise. It's not surprising or annoying, with the stereo at 10 it was mostly drownd out and you can easily have a conversation with passengers.
I have snow tires that will be going on next week, but the Goodyears are very surprising! I didn't get the abs to activate once and it's pretty slick out.
I have a few mods that will be going on
315/70R17 Nokian Hakkapeliitta LT3's
Rigid 360 spot lights with white backlight
Bronco depo classic satin silver emblems
Redline hood struts
Thinkware F200 dash cam
Photos from delivery today and photos of the first mods.
** I don't plan to keep updating this first post, but will add reply with mods and adventures I take my Bronco on **
Yes I did them myself, I planned on wiring the backlight to the marker lights (and still do) but for now I have them hooked to the #5 switch and the actual lights on #6.Did you install the ditch lights yourself? Are you referring to the mirror lights? Are they two function or am I missing something?Yes I did them myself, I planned on wiring the backlight to the marker lights (and still do) but for now I have them hooked to the #5 switch and the actual lights on #6.
We're talking about the Rigid 360 lights mounted next to the mirrors. Are you referring to the mirror lights? Are they two function or am I missing something?
All new vehicles are shipped from the factory to the port of Tacoma,WA where they are loaded on a ship and shipped to the Port of Anchorage,AK and from there trucked to dealers throughout the state of AK.what mode of transportation do car companies use to transport to Alaska in the winter when there’s all that snow?
Yes, the model he installed has a backlight and the actual light. Like your running lights and then headlights on the factory switch. Are you referring to the mirror lights? Are they two function or am I missing something?
The issue wasn't the glass, it was plenty warm with no ice attached to it. The defrost does a great job. But that vertical windshield does take on snow more than any other vehicle I have, where once your going 50 it doesn't hit the windshield, in the Broncoit does. So the issue is just the wipers getting absolutely caked in snow/water and freezing up.The FJ Cruiser has the same issue with snow/ice build up on the wipers. The vertical position of the windshield prevent the defrosters from warming the glass. In the FJ crowd most made a small deflector to focus the defroster air lower on the glass.
Where did you buy the mud flaps? They look good and I definitely need them when mine arrives.Grabbed some universal mud flaps and installed them. A little trimming with the air saw they fit well. Secured to the flare, running board and fender liner. Also installed the Bronco emblems, love how they look!
Also, since I forgot yesterday here are some interior shots!
Where did you get the ‘Go see Cal’ plate? Did you save one? Been a minute since I’ve seen one.I may have found my first actual issue. Moderate snow, mid 20s. Defrost on high temp and high fan. I'd knocked them off before I headed 4 miles back to work up to 55 mph. They collected slush/ice quickly. Maybe heated wipers for winter might be a good idea.
That right there could be a future mod! This is something I'm considering installing. It is a stick on defroster for the windshield where the wipers park. https://frostfighter.com/clear-view-front-wiper-defrosters.htm
They were some we had laying around at work, just a universal flaps I modified to fit.Where did you buy the mud flaps? They look good and I definitely need them when mine arrives.
I took them off new trucks over the years I worked in the shop, I have a pile of them and plate frames. I thought it would be funny.Where did you get the ‘Go see Cal’ plate? Did you save one? Been a minute since I’ve seen one.
