Wonder how millions of Jeep owners survive. ?
My LJ wrangler now lives in the garage and my f150 and wife’s grand cherokee have seen 100 more trails than the actual rig built for the trails. My LJ rated to tow 3500lbs but with the lift & tires and added components, that # is reduced. My LJ also didnt cost 60k. Going to be hard to justify that if it cant tow my 3400lb camper to our offroading destinations.

They didn't allow manual transmission with the Sasquatch package so I kinda feel that they need a bit of a Bronc-splaining...
^^^^^ Absolutely this^^^^^

Hey, I have an idea, lets hype the hell out of our wildly capable offroader and hype up the fact that we have an industry leading crawler tranny for it , and industry leading offroad tire size package ..... THEN, as an April Fools joke, we will not allow the ultimate offroad tranny to be paired with the ultimate offroad suspension and gearing package ....AHHHHH HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

MALL CRAWLERS UNITE!!!!

I was just hoping to go from 3 vehicles down to 2. I dont need 3 offroad vehicles, I just need 2 that can both tow our 3400lb camper that cost as much as a Badlands. Not spending that $ on a Bronco then be forced to leave it home all the time. That what my LJ wrangler is doing right now for much less $.

An offroad camper that weighs 3400lbs. 3500 is cutting it too close. So in order for me to enjoy our bronco offroad when we go on trips to Moab, SW Colorado, Sedona etc. I see 4 options for me:
1. Im going to be forced to trade in my f150 for a f250/350 so I can throw the Bronco and camper on a bed trailer.
2. have the wife follow me on our 14 hour journeys in her Bronco.
3. find as much weight I can shed (Ex. 40 gallons of water in tanks) and tow it with the bronco.
4. Or forget about the super duty, sell the f150 for a gladiator diesel and forget the Bronco and keep the wife’s grand cherokee as a secondary tow vehicle.
Buy a class C rv and bumper tow the bronco behind it.

Not every vehicle will fit everyone's needs. The tow rating on the Bronco matches right up with its competitor, the Wrangler. If the Wrangler or Bronco's tow rating doesn't fit your needs then go for a different vehicle segment that does fit your needs.

We camp to go dispersed camping. There is not one trail the class C could go where our camper goes. I didn't spend the $ on a camper to camp near others in campgrounds or rv parks. The camper can go anywhere the tow vehicle can drag it.

The more difficult it is to get there, the better the view

Keep your current set up then seems like you have no issues doing what you want. No need for the bronco. With all your gear plus camper you’ll be over the 3500lb GVWR.

Camper weighs 3395lbs loaded (gear, 40gal of water, diesel, food etc.).

It is interesting that the Bronco can't even tow another Bronco.
Yeah, and a miata can't tow another miata, and a wrangler can't tow another wrangler, what is your point?

So what’s wrong with the current set up of your f-150? It seems to get the job done.
Was hoping to downsize from 3 vehicles to 2. Bronco would be replacing the wife’s GC trailhawk. There are times the f150 is not ideal for the trails I wheel (ex. Black Bear Pass, Moab trails). Black Bear can be done but takes 7-8 turns in couple areas. Don't get me wrong, I love my F150 but it also cant tow my wrangler or Bronco and camper on a trailer. Which is why my wrangler doesn't get out to stretch its legs. When I hit a deer with the GC last summer 8hrs from home and needed to get the camper home, thankfully I had my truck as a tow vehicle, the GC was out of commission for over a month and I had 2 trips during that time.

Sounds like I just need to chalk it up and move on and tell the wife, her Badsquatch is a no go because buying a $80k super duty to tow the Bronco and camper will get old fast with the hassle.

Dude I've read the whole thread, and happen to tow a lot from a 1,000lb off road trailer to grossing 45K with my superdutys. If you want some unsolicited advice, Any tow rating the factory puts on a vehicle has a large safety margin. You freely have repeated your set-up weight 3,400 lbs and that is "too close". I would submit that it is not. Especially, if you have the four door. (It literally makes no sense to have the 2 door and 4 door rated and both engines rated the same) I actually think the numbers are just a place holder and NOT the final numbers and the Ford people fielding the questions are just repeating what the current info states.

Just to be clear the 3,500 is a tow weight rating not a GVWR. Place more load in the Bronco if it makes you feel better. That said, even if the final rating is 3,500 I would have zero problems hooking up to 3,400 in a properly loaded trailer. I'd get the 2.7 and the 4 door, I personally would not want to pull 3,500 in the short wheelbase 2 dr.
