That’s easy. EllsworthAwesome!
Gives me incentive to do a post on finding the best beer and cheese curds in the great state of Wisconsin
Today, we hit the Ott Haus in New Glarus. That’s easy. Ellsworth
Seven. I carry 3 on the Bronco at all times and 4 on the trailer if I know I'll be pushing it between fuel stops. Its not needed for a trip like this, though I did get pretty close on one stretch. So was 8 gallons of extra fuel all you carried??
Too funny! We just did (relatively) the same week before last.
Anch to Girdwood (to our ski cabin), to Whittier, ferry to Valdez, Keystone Canyon/Thompson Pass, up Richardson to Copper, Delta, Fairbanks (only long enough for coffee!), down the Parks, a couple nights in Denali, Talkeetna, Anch.
6 days/1000mi. You had better weather!
Born and raised here. Never gets old...
Beautiful Alaska, thanks for making me dream about it, being there when in the AF. Now retired always think about going back for a road trip, but Alaska from SoCal is like going to the moon... LOL!My road trips are always well received here so time for another! This time I headed from my home on the Kenai Peninsula, up then down 450 miles to Valdez through the jaw droppingly beautiful Thompson Pass. I've gotta say, I've done a LOT of driving around this state and from purely a 'spectacular views' perspective Thompson Pass has slotted into my new favorite. From there I headed a few hours North to check out a trail running along a glacier moraine, then back home. Total miles this round 1,170 and 28 hours of drive time.
If anyone remembers my previous posts you'll know I had been running an RTT. This year I picked up a Valiant Expedition Trailer. The Bronco is definitely NOT built for towing, but I'm pushing 4000 trailer miles this year and loving the extra comfort albeit with some tradeoffs (like 12mpg and an unpleasant ride quality)
This handful of cellphone pics can't doing anything justice, but enjoy these definitely out of order highlights from the last few days.
I dig the retro look of the trailer!Beautiful Alaska, thanks for making me dream about it, being there when in the AF. Now retired always think about going back for a road trip, but Alaska from SoCal is like going to the moon... LOL!
This is my rig I tow with my WT it only weights about 2200 LBS
Spotted cow? It’s the best, bought a rooftop tent that I had to pick up out in Colorado and he asked me to bring him some Since it’s only available in WI. So I brought them a case plus some fresh squeaky curdsToday, we hit the Ott Haus in New Glarus.
1/2 lb burgers
Voted best burger in Green County. It was awesome!
They had awesome deep fried curds.
Everything is locally sourced
