IF it's 'tricking the ecu to add more boost' it's possible to run lean if the factory settings/hardware can't compensate by adding additional fuel and/or adjusting timing.

I don't know the specifics of this tuner nor the breadth of the Ford ecu tables nor the fuel injector duty cycle. This is just generic advice for any aftermarket tune.

The ecu will compensate by adjusting timing for the octane level or ford would be saying not to run 87octane. I totally agree about 93 octane on a FI engine though. I’m guessing they have something like a flex fuel sensor installed that checks the octane rating and adds timing and adjusts the fuel mapping. I like the fact you can run 87 if you want, not always 93 available.

If your running the 2.7, which is twin turbo'd. I would run nothing but premium, I have seen mine hit 18-19 psi spikes. At that level, you need premium gas, a Subaru Sti EJ257 motor runs 16lbs boost and requires premium. Don't skimp or you might find yourself with some nasty lean detention, and needing a new engine. Rule of thumb, if it has forced induction, good to go with premium with anything over 10PSI imo.

I wound't really on a sensor, but lets say you blow your motor running low sub grade octane, ford will test the gas and if its shit, they might look at you and say, not our fault, this is all on you. But, it is possible to run 100k miles on low octane fuel. But, there are so many more issues that can arise because of it. To each their own really.

How do you think people run e85 blends to make the big power numbers. They use fuel sensors. They’re reliable

As long as you don’t drive it like a teenager shouldn’t have any issues.
...He says to the guy who drives his F350 dually like he stole it just because it sounds so good and runs like a screaming banshee...

I'm not hating on the guy that runs 93oct BUT way more goes into all this (Ford says its good with both but if you are never under a load above normal WOT because Ford says thats good on 87oct the risk of carbon build up goes up still low in this engine but goes up) I race cars for fun and have for about 23yrs. It's about load, Cams, Timing and just good ole fashion air flow. The motor is designed to run 87 under normal load. I'm not going to right a book but as long as you don't have ping you are good and if you do the motor will see it and pull timing your still good. Don't get me wrong you don't want ping ever and if its happening all the time your in trouble but again you have load how often do you have that load. (I will run 93 when towing and on trails playing not my day to day riding around)

Little highlight (Keep this in mind on thing like boats and small engines)
Premium gas ran in a regular engine
is not recommended as there is a risk of it not being fully burned off by the engine. This would result in above average deposits and high emissions. Carbon deposits would not be removed but more added to them.

As long as you don’t drive it like a teenager shouldn’t have any issues. I’ve ran a jb4 for two years on a car before and never had a issue with it. Go to the f150 forums and search jb4 lots of people using that, this is basically same thing.
Why go for the power increase if you're not gonna drive like a teenager? LOL!

Correct. This is what Knock sensors are for. They don’t know the octane, but if you’re running a lower octane the knock sensors will pick up detonation and in turn adjust ignition timing accordingly to protect the engine if needed.

You absolutely do not NEED to run 93, it’s just suggested to get optimal performance.

So I sent them an email saying this.

We need more info

It says it has 7 different maps (What are they do they have like a 87oct sport mode what hp?

They sent me back this.

Hey Bradley,

Thanks for reaching out. I don't think we have an actual Rep in the Bronco group just yet, BUT if someone is definitely interested in purchasing one, I will gladly be the groups main contact.

The 7 modes are all setting options when purchasing the tune box. It allows you to select the fuel running (octane level) and aggressiveness. With the App, you can change those features and change when you want the tune box to actually kick in. For example" when you turn on the car and want the car to warm up to regular temp, then the Tine Box will kick in.
HP tested on 91 octane was at 284HP and 450 WTRQ (At purchase, we will ask what Octane level you run)

For those interested, email me at [email protected] All group members will qualify for $720 shipped free (with Bluetooth option) by messaging me.

If there is any further questions, please feel free to message me directly.

Thank you

If I had my Bronco I’d gladly be the first to buy. I run a piggyback tuner on my 2.0L Jeep and absolutely love it.

He is right. Anything that is forced induction needs premium gas.

Well through Hennessey you can get a bronco package that gives the it 405 hp and 503 lb-ft torque. I guess they’re not concerned about the transmission..
Hennessy isn't concerned about anything except cheating their next customer
