Worked up an rear antenna mount thought I would share.

Bought a Jeep rear tire mount of amazon. Bolt holes were way off as I expected. So did some cutting. After getting it on I realized the tire sat too far back for the antenna to fit. So a 1 inch wheel spacer on the rear tire carrier did the trick. Pics of the interesting parts below. Added measurements of the bracket I modified incase someone wants to make their own

I absolutely LOVE this idea. I have bought all the things and am working on tweaking the bracket right now.

There is ONE little thing that I noticed, and I wanted to see if you've had any issues with it...

At the bottom of the tire, on the tailgate, there are 2 rubber bumpers that support the tire on the bottom side. Have you done any offroading/bumpy stuff and noticed any issues now that the tire is no longer supported by these bumpers (since the spacer brings it away from them)?

Where did you find a single wheel spacer for sale? This is a great solution and I would like to do the same. I have only found sets of four spacers. Thanks for sharing this great set up,

I bought a set of 4... I have 3 extras I could sell... 🙃

I will say, I haven't heard back from the OP, and I've made it as far as running the antenna cable and modifying the bracket (all except for the actual bolt holes). I really need it to get warmer so I'm brave enough to go out and finish it up. We do have the Sasquatch package, but does look like it will still clear.

FYI... if coming from the glovebox, you're going to want more than a 16.5 foot antenna cable (which is what I originally purchased, but it's about 1 foot short. Ordered the 20 foot after I figured that out. https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07PJWSJJB/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

Do you have a wheel spacer for sale? If so, how much is it and are you willing to ship to California?

Sorry bout that never saw the notice on the reply. Have not had any issues with the Badlands 33" tire so far been running this for 7 months. and yea I've been doing a good share of off-roading bumpy stuff

AWESOME... Great to hear!

I started with your version of the install, but the tire rubbed the antenna JUST enough that I couldn't unscrew it.

Someone else showed me that there is a jeep mount that is a direct fit. It sits a little bit lower, but it's a bit closer to the gate so I don't have rubbing issues.

Here's the thread I had, starting with your ideas. A few posts down I show the other jeep mount and fitment.

Thanks for getting back to me!

Thanks for the post! Finally just got my Bronco and I was just trying to figure out how I wanted to mount an antenna for my Yaesu FTM-400cdr. what unit do you have hooked to the antenna and where did you mount it? I assume there is already a passthrough hole in the firewall, will be looking for that next. and about those wheel spacers....

I have an icom 2730a. I didn’t want to create a hole in the firewall for power so I used our aux switches. Aux 1’s power is now connected to the pass through that goes to the passenger side kick panel. That’s where our radio gets power. As for the antenna, it goes through a vent flap in the rear gate behind the tire mount.

Thanks. I didnt think the gauge of wire they used for aux switches was large enough for what the radio needs. What antenna are you using ? I assume one with a PL259 for that mount?

Thats awesome I just ordered one as I think I'm going to run dual antenna's 1 GMRS and 1 CB with that mount in addition to the one I built I might be able to get both mounted cleanly. Looks like the Sasquatch tire size is just enough bigger than the 33's that made a difference in your mounting.
