Have there been any pics of the rear steel bumper? That we actually know is steel since it looks so similar to the plastic bumper. Also, what is the benefit of the steel bumpers? Is it for rock crawling, so you can slide and not damage them? Is for mods? Forgive me if this is a naive question, but I haven’t done much off-roading other than a little desert running.

This is the rear steel bumper. it is actually steel on the lower 85% and the top piece is hard MIC plastic but the color matches the rest of bumper, flares, black parts perfectly and really looks like 1 unit. I really like the rear steel bumper. Plus with the tow hooks under it and a tow package, those things serve as extra armor from bumps from below.

So am I right in saying it’s basically for protection in rock crawling scenarios?

I'm replacing my plastic bumper with steel because I get rear ended (ha) by distracted drivers once every year or two in Houston. I'm tired of making claims on my insurance and getting things fixed.

One of the items on the list to be replaced. It’s big and bulky out of necessity for crash worthiness, but the aftermarket will have some nice strong compact alternatives.

So I think I’ll get the front steel bumper in my Wildtrak build and add an aftermarket rear when they’re available. Still confused on which bash/skid plates come with the steel bumper and what difference the optional front bash plates are if any?

The modular front bumper has a skid plate that is integrated to the bottom of the bumper. You can see it really well in the SEMA concept they just did. it’s highly visible even though they don’t change that part.

Ok, I see that. So is that the only plate that comes with the bumper? And is it the same optional bash plates without the bumper?
