Anybody got DV8 Spare Tire Guard/Accessory Mount?

Looking for real world experience with the DV8 Spare Tire Guard/Accessory Mount. Looks like it would provide some support for the tailgate & you can lock the spare. Downsides I see: a SAS tire requires a 1.5 inch spacer which would move the tire out away from the tailgate and the product weighs 50 pounds. Looks cool...What are you guys thoughts?

@KRAKEN : I have the DV8 spare tire/guard accessory and I also added the Turn off-roads camera mount and carrier to my setup. (My OEM mount was damaged).

The DV8 system is very rugged. It spreads the weight of the system across the tailgate. It has connections to the tailgate itself, then it uses the other bolts that the OEM mount uses. The guard on the system uses a very stout pin, to lock the gate in place, and it also can use a locking pin instead, or a lock.

With the turn-off road solution, this system is nearly bulletproof, also it allows me to set the mount and the tire more flush to the tailgate than the OEM carrier. It was def worth the price to have this setup. I did use the OEM carrier before I received the TOR, and it did work as well. The tire did sit a little further off but it was still in place. I run a Cooper 37 on a zero-off-set.

I was just at Ol Florida running the trials and obstacles, and I did not have any issues. The carrier did not hit, nor were there any squeaks or bad rattles. I have also hit this carrier, (by accident) and it took the hit without blinking. The setup is a very unique look as well, so I am very pleased with this system overall.

I have been happy with mine, Currently have traction pads mounted horizontally across the back. Because the plates are recessed attaching medium or larger items will take some thought or additional bracketry.

That looks really good!
Does the size of the rack/guard hit the tail light if it swings all the way open? Kind of looks like it would.
Maybe those flush mount tail lights would complement the design? (more $$$ tho)

No, it does not. In one of my pics, it shows the Guard all the way open. The last pic in my set shows the Tailgate opened at 90 degrees. Another pic shows the tailgate shut, and the guard opens all the way.

Now if you were to open the guard all the way, and then open the tailgate all the way, then yes it would hit the light. But honestly should never be a reason to have both open at full extension at the same time.
