This is your perfect car:
Ford Flex 4x4

I know this is constantly posted as a joke but I would buy the shit outa this.

Unfortunately what we actually get is the Timberline Explorer/Expy which is lipstick on a pig to make a few bucks for Ford.

Edit- only change would stand the spare up in the trunk and do a 4Runner style rear window and tailgate.

Like there aren’t already a myriad of current and future mall crawler Broncos…
Agree, Ford even launched a dedicated trim called the Bronco Raptor.

I've had my Bronco now for 8 months. After assessing what I want out of a vehicle and what I actually use it for, the 4Runner looks like an appealing alternative should I decide to sell the Bronco in the future. Is anyone else considering trading their Bronco for the next-gen 4Runner, whenever it comes out?
Money aspect? A new 4Runner is a excellent Auto. Depends on your selection of options.
Lot to consider.

This year, I switched from a 5.7 liter Tundra to the2.7 liter Bronco, and my fuel economy is now worse. Fuel efficiency may drive me to a Toyota again.

The best 4runners (in looks and use) were those up until about 2000.

The best Landcruisers were the FJ40 and FJ45 styles, and maybe FJ55.

If that is a picture of a new 4runner in the 1st or 2nd post... can I use the term butt-ugly? Is that OK on this forum. If not, how about extremely gaudy and pretentious and made to look like something a 70s porn star would drive? Is that OK?

I'd personally view made in Japan as a plus, but no I do not. If I wanted a 4runner I would have bought one instead of the Bronco already. The only thing I have heard about the new one is they are finally updating the engine and transmission?

But if it works better for you then go for it!
Quality is job one with Toyota and if I don’t get my bronco by next year you can bet I will order one . Life is too short to wait

the bronco is less aerodynamic, but that's one of the things that make it stand out in a crowd, if mileage was a primary concern why buy an off road vehicle like a bronco in the first place?

The next gen 4Runner is gonna have a 5hp Briggs and Stratton motor and a radio from a 1999 rav4. Which I suppose is an upgrade from the 1994 radio it has now?

180° in our situation. I'm coming from a 4runner trying to get a bronco. I loved what my 4runner could do and it was a very useful machine. Unfortunately, I had non stop issues with it and shelled out over $7k in repairs over 14k miles before I gave up and let it sit in the driveway for two years until I sold it for parts for $800. Only had 220k miles on it but every time I turned the key a new issue would surface. I hope the bronco survives to 220k and is still worth repairing by then. Ever since I saw initial renderings in 2015, the new bronco caught my interest. Then they said it there would be a2 door version with a stick shift and I was pretty much sold.
