Anyone else hoping that there will be a reveal of a fully electric Bronco? Or pretty much happy with the gas?

I know a lot of people in here don't really care for electric, and that's fine, but I'm actually fairly worried about making an investment in a vehicle that might be worthless 5-10 years from now so it's giving me some hangups. We're definitely still in the early stages but I've seen so many reports of how fast electric vehicles will become the norm. One of the warning signs I've read about is where gasoline becomes more difficult for mom and pop gas stations to stock, the change will happen very quickly. Kind of like how rapid the adoption of cellphones, and then smart phones, and social media was.

I like the usability of gasoline on the trails, and at this point in time there is nothing to really to worry about but looking towards the future electric vehicles are rising more and more each year and will only get cheaper and more accessible. And with BP releasing its report that we've already reached peak oil consumption and it will rapidly drop off after 2035 and possibly faster its getting harder for me to justify gas with that in mind. Plus even with all their issues Tesla is growing so much year over year. I canceled a cybertruck preorder for the Bronco.

I do think that some of the worst parts about electric offroad will be solved over the next few years as more people adopt but man, this is hard. Gas is really just so cheap and easy right now. Currently reserved a Badlands with the V6 but feeling torn. Would love to hear other thoughts!

Personally I would think that if (and that's a very big "if") EVs were to completely take over as the dominant powerplants in vehicles, that would make vehicles that remained with ICEs even more sought after and collectible, thus raising their value and price in the private seller market. This would increase demand for our 6G Broncos as supplies of gasoline and ICE vehicles declined. So, I say bring it on. When one of my children inherit my 6G, they may be able to cash in big time and finance their future on it.

just my .02 but I would of bought an electric Bronco in a heartbeat. (My company has free charging stations so I've got a bit of an incentive). If the Bronco thing doesn't happen for any reason, I'll be looking hard at the Mach E.

Especially if it's a stick IMO. It highly likely that this Bronco is the last ICE-only (and possibly even ICE at all!) vehicle that we buy, so why not make it a stick? Niche ^2

I would totally be down for an electric car, not so much an electric SUV. I would love a diesel hybrid or better yet a diesel electric like trains. With Tesla Model 3's being "hacked" to run low 10's...I am not against electric cars. I am not a huge Tesla fan but can see a hybrid or electric in the future.

That said I would ideally like to get either a power wall or solar + powerwall setup to charge said electric car at home first (furnace, stove, range, water heater is gas and will stay that way). Our house faces North and the back of the house gets a metric ton of sun...just so stupid expensive and I am not taking a loan out.

I don’t want a fully electric off road vehicle. What happens when you run out of charge in the middle of the desert? A gas can can’t help you.

A hybrid would be cool like the F150 Powerboost but a full plug in EV would be worthless.

Easy just bring some extra batteries.

Well I don’t know how old you are but live like your dying. Next year as your driving to work and cross the train tracks and get hit by a train you really don’t want the last thing in your mind to be damn I should’ve ordered that bronco and not waited another five years one electric version.

I agree regarding "Fossil Fuels" but I would add that ICE's can run off a variety of hydrocarbons and they don't have to come from the ground. I am not a fan of using land to grow ethanol either but there are other options. Say for example if the world woke up and realized the nuclear option is here and ready we would have an abundance of heat and power to synthesize hydrocarbon fuels in a closed cycle. Not unlike the economics of Hydrogen fuel cells (but better). This though relies on the future of energy being dictated by brains more than politics...

The market for electrified powertrains will only grow but I think ICE's with carbon neutral fuels will have a place somewhere practically indefinitely

Edit: But to OP's initial question, the thing that worries me most is an outrageous political (not engineering/scientific) based regulation that outright bans ICE's (regardless of fuel source) on most or all roads in the next 10+ years. Sounds crazy I know but if you've followed politics in the last 10 years it seems less crazy...

I was wondering when someone would bring up this or biofuels. Maybe I'm ignorant about new advancements in EV but being from a cold climate, I am always leery of anything completely battery related.
