Anyone else hoping that there will be a reveal of a fully electric Bronco? Or pretty much happy with the gas?

I know a lot of people in here don't really care for electric, and that's fine, but I'm actually fairly worried about making an investment in a vehicle that might be worthless 5-10 years from now so it's giving me some hangups. We're definitely still in the early stages but I've seen so many reports of how fast electric vehicles will become the norm. One of the warning signs I've read about is where gasoline becomes more difficult for mom and pop gas stations to stock, the change will happen very quickly. Kind of like how rapid the adoption of cellphones, and then smart phones, and social media was.

I like the usability of gasoline on the trails, and at this point in time there is nothing to really to worry about but looking towards the future electric vehicles are rising more and more each year and will only get cheaper and more accessible. And with BP releasing its report that we've already reached peak oil consumption and it will rapidly drop off after 2035 and possibly faster its getting harder for me to justify gas with that in mind. Plus even with all their issues Tesla is growing so much year over year. I canceled a cybertruck preorder for the Bronco.

I do think that some of the worst parts about electric offroad will be solved over the next few years as more people adopt but man, this is hard. Gas is really just so cheap and easy right now. Currently reserved a Badlands with the V6 but feeling torn. Would love to hear other thoughts!

Well I don’t know how old you are but live like your dying. Next year as your driving to work and cross the train tracks and get hit by a train you really don’t want the last thing in your mind to be damn I should’ve ordered that bronco and not waited another five years for the electric one

Fossil fuels aren’t going anywhere.
Unless you are in California, then they might still be there but taxed to high heaven to pay all the incentives on the Electric Cars.

They will eventually release an electric or hybrid in the future once the popularity of the gas bronco drops a little. Gas bronco is just the foreplay. Ford isn't going to rush things and blow their load too early?

No way. It’s a race. Whoever gets to the finish line first is the winner. ?

I very much would be interested in an electric Bronco. My only issue would be PRICE. Not interested in a hybrid at all.
To me that defeats the purpose of an electric (maintenace). I’m thinking about 5 years or so before they would be price competitive . Who knows , with some government subsidies though?

Governor of California announced that their would be only zero emission vehicles available in 2035. Announcement was timed as rolling blackouts were occurring. Best timing ever...

Ford has invested heavily and even paired up with VW on electric technology. They probably already have plans for it in bronco. I heard somewhere that the instrument cluster already has the programming in it.

Gas will actually get cheaper as more vehicles move to electric. (Supply and demand) A California type excise tax can drive up the price/gal but there is plenty of supply and plenty of facilities that efficiently refine oil to make gas. Its not going away in our lifetime.

L-ion battery tech relies on components sourced outside of the US and some in the auto industry think the tech has already peaked in performance. Wanna go back to foreign dependencies on natural resources? We are net positive on oil production in North America and rely on NO ONE.

All major car companies are moving R&D $$ to hydrogen. Its ubiquitous and there are vehicles in production now. Although they are not affordable yet and there is no infrastructure to support them. But that's the future.

Point is: Don't lose any sleep on getting an ICE vehicle for 2021 and foreseeable years. The infrastructure and supply is very significant. Its not going away anytime soon.

Want a see an example of EV in the adventure world??? Watch "Long Way Up" on Apple TV....
Adventure travel can be stressful but add the stress of low range on cold mornings, limited accessories, (like no heated gear at freezing temps) and no place to recharge... Irony of this series is the Cameraman used an ICE bike (traditional Harley) and never missed a shot....

Me, too. I think they revealed the plug-in Wrangler today - but you end up paying for electric and maintaining gas.

If the cyber truck weren’t so dang ugly I would have one reserved and I wouldn’t have ever set foot in this website...

I looked hard at the model Y again today. Sucks self driving went up to $10,000 option. Pushing me toward a bronco.
