At one point, Ford was talking about shipping F-150s to dealers, and having the dealers install the modules. That fell apart for insurance/liability reasons.

But that implies it's not a major operation to install an ECM.

Yes, it should be done at the dealership. However, my vehicle is still sitting there at the factory even though it is completely built. I’m just assuming they are still holding it due to the windshield issue but I can’t get any communications from ford. My vehicle went down the assembly line 6 months ago and it still sitting in a parking lot. I don’t think ford really cares about the “faster” option of completing the recall.
Oh I agree! I haven’t been waiting as long as you. I was on a chip hold since mid March and received my built email end of June. Now I am awaiting shipment.
