I was removing the drivers side fender liner, when I hear something fall and hit the ground. At first I thought it was just a push pin I didn't fully remove. Then I saw this white plastic cup. Looks like some type of filter with the screen on it. Is this something important? Or just a random part that fell in the engine bay at factory?

Looks like a shipping cap to prevent foreign material from getting into a hose, engine, radiator etc. The plant is supposed to pull them off and throw them in a trash can. Sometimes the caps end up laying on the engine or vehicle.

Looks like brake master cylinder reservoir filter screen. Take cap off and see if it is missing.
No screen in mine. Tried putting it in, and it fell right through. Had to fish it out with needle nose pliers. Is there supposed to be a screen in there?

Yes. Filter is for when you add fluid any small contaminates that could come out of bottle, etc do not get in lines.

That definitely looks like it! Mine didn't seat onto anything. Just fell into the fluid and kinda floated around. Don't think it would go anywhere. Pretty tight inside there.

I stuck it back in. Yours looks like it fits the same. Just below the fill hole a little.

Thank you for the help! I wonder how many other people are missing this from there brake fluid reservoir...

Yes, it will just float around and shouldn't go anywhere.
