I'm looking at the badlands now. The way I would spec it I'm at about 56k for the 2 door.

That prices I'm now in the ball park of the new Defender.

Have you guys looked at them? what did you think?

The top and doors don’t come off and it doesn’t come with a manual transmission so no, it was never even a consideration

Agreed. The top and doors was the big one for me. If they had made it like the older 90 or 110, it might have made the contention. It just feels like a Defender in name only.

Personal opinion...

It suffers from the same hideous, modern styling most SUV's suffer from.

Haha, those two NASs would pay cash for two First Editions with money left over if you still had them, lol. I actually bought a Ford Explorer in 1994 instead of a Defender. Biggest car purchase mistake of my life and I have bought over 20 new vehicles. I was worried about the maintenance cost. The Explorer was the biggest piece of crap I have owned to date. Really wish the LR salesman hadn't talked me out of the Defender with his comment that it cost $500 to pop the hood and it needs to be popped often.

In all seriousness the Defender 110 trounces the Bronco in towing, payload, roof storage weight, rear seat comfort (has 3" more of rear leg room and rear A/C vents in console), and standard warranty (Defender has 4 year/50k bumper to bumper). The Defender 110 is rated to tow up to 8200 lbs, has a payload up to 2030 lbs, and 370 roof weight in addition to the three bar roof rack. Even the 4 cylinder is rated at 7716 tow and 1780 payload. The 110 S build with air suspension, tow hitch and off road package is 54k MSRP.
The Bronco should be more reliable, better off-road, better electronics, better fuel economy, and of course topless/doorless option for approximately 8k less in the Black Diamond build I have reserved (similar features).

Haha glad I am not alone in my affliction. That 6 adds some $$$$. I know to wait for the Bronco but I so loved my Defender test drive. I barely made it out of the dealership without telling the dealer to take my money. Weird thing is I am now 50 and almost an empty nester and the Defender fits me better than the Bronco. I almost feel like the Bronco styling is directed more towards the 30 and under crowd, where the Defender is 40 and up.
