Has anyone powder coated the bead lock rings on their SAS wheels? I just got a quote here in Houston for $200 a wheel to color match the eruption green. Seems a little steep?

I paid 125 total for all 5, that was gloss black, a color they stocked. I imagine it would be a little higher if they had to order, and is probably 2 colors, gold base with green on top BUT 200 per ring is exceptionally high even for that

That’s nuts. They are banking you have that stupid bronco money. I get my wheels blasted and powder coated for 125 a wheel for a standard color. And that’s not a bro deal.

I was told something similar for the eruption green. But it seems nobody is quite sure what it would take to color match at least from the three shops I talked to.

If you plan to off road at all, don’t bother. My silver ones have rock live marks all over them. My friend got his powder coated black - and his silver shoes through all his scratches. If you must- spray paint them do you can easily touch them up when needed.

The powder coater has a minimum order quantity (MOQ) from their powder coat supplier and must recover their money on your job since they may never use the left over Eruption Green powder. I spent 28 years in manufacturing and dealt with customers ordering custom powder coatings several times each year and high costs were common on small orders.

Rather the powder coating, I painted mine to match the grill and they came out great. I scrubbed heavily with course steel wool, cleaned with solvent then applied two coats of carbonized gray and two coats of clear coat. They came out looking like they were professionally painted and are holding up well so far.

There are a few companies that sell most colors in aerosol cans and a quick search should turn up what you need. Don’t forget the clear coat!

Don’t bother if you’re going to take it off-road. They’ll get scratched to hell. I was sick of the scratches and gouges out of mine, so I sprayed black bed liner spray on them. They look awesome and can now take the abuse.

I paid $185 to have mine done and that included the powder.

$100 for all 5 at a local shop. Called a few places. Went with Kingsport Grey, they had it in stock and matches really well with the Badlands grille.

I paid about $70 for each ring. About 350 total. Looks way better. No scratches yet.
