I think there was some chatter on this early on, but now hopefully enough people have Broncos to where we can get some more information. The day I got my Bronco I noticed I wasn't getting any alerts on my Apple watch when driving. It is super irritating - I have missed important texts and calls, because if you aren't staring at the Carplay screen when the alert comes in you can miss it. I can't tell for sure if this is an issue or something working as designed. Some people seemed to imply certain versions of the Watch OS and phone OS might fix the issue. I also found other info on the the internet that said this was working as designed and meant to minimize distractions. Does anyone else have this behavior, and if so, has anyone figured out a workaround? Ideally I would like to keep my phone in my pocket while driving and just use carplay, but for now I need to keep it out so I can check it for notifications.

The phone is going into "Driving Mode" and trying to keep you distraction free while driving. So in a way it's doing its job. Look at the focus modes on your phone, perhaps you can override their settings a bit and that will probably flow over to the Apple watch.

If it is driving mode, just disable it.
I refused to activate it from the start.😎

I don't believe so. The "Do Not Disturb while driving" is off and the phone itself gets notifications. They just don't pass through to my watch.

It's not driving mode as far as I can tell.

Does your watch mimic your phone? I don't have your same problems with my watch, phone, and carplay across any vehicle I've used it with Honda, Indian, Polaris, Jaguar ...

I've only used carplay in rental cars (However, I do drive rental cars more than my own car) and only used wireless car play on one or two occassions, so I'm not 100% on this...

I'm thinking it might have to do with wireless car play. It may be that the phone only maintains connection with one other wireless device at a time (in terms of alerts) and that's why you aren't getting alerts on your watch.

I'm thinking this along the lines of how you can pair multiple apple watches to one phone, but the phone can only maintain connection with one at a time.

I believe my watch gets notifications while connected to CarPlay.

Edit: I do NOT get watch notifications when connected to CarPlay. I thought I did in my ‘15 Cadillac. Now I‘m second guessing

How is there not an $175 proprietary adapter/app Apple can sell you to fix the problem between their proprietary products?

Oh how I miss what Apple was when they said they would never lock their customers into proprietary products. Back when everyone could park in handicapped spots, a gentler Apple, a lower stock price Apple....

Literally a setting issue here. I've never had the same problem across vehicles, motorcycles or a Slingshot whatever you'd call that thing.
