11/30/21 at 3:21 PM PST is when I had this AH HA! moment....

Currently, the STIRRUPS are being machined. They are the heavy lifting portion of the machining and finishing process. With the introduction of the 2" drop bracket and most recently the standard and 2" drop clamp on bracket, the SKUs began to grow for this part and that's fine. People were placing their pre-orders and revisions as new options were released.

I'm 3D printing and test fitting all of the different variations of brackets over the weekend and making tweaks. Today it just hit me. A design for the bracket that is as secure and robust as the bolt on design, as easy to install as the clamp on design, as cost efficient as both designs and I think I will be able to swing it so you can chose between either of the mounting heights on a single bracket. This means, two SKUs. One for the STIRRUP and another for the bracket. #streamlined

The new bracket design will also get a rubber interface between the STIRRUP bracket and the OEM rail. This way there's less opportunity for wear and it makes the STIRRUP and your OEM rail a more second hand marketable part for the owner down the road. Cases like..., you go all out for a frame mounted slider and no longer need the STIRRUPS, you sell you Bronco, or your kids grow up and you no longer need the 2" drop. Any of those cases will allow you to sell your STIRRUPs or your OEM rail with no remnants of the aftermarket part install.

I'll try to bang this one out by tomorrow and get an updated rendering on the thread, both in a later post and an update to Post 1. From here, press GO on the machining of the final bracket design and get solid ship dates for the production STIRRUPS. Stay tuned!

AR | STIRRUP

The BRONCO community asked for it and we went to work! After reviewing what was shared from last year's SEMA Bronco, there was plenty of room for improvement, both in design and function.

Made from a sizeable chunk of 6061 billet, the STIRRUP is very beefy part and it will look right at home on an overland build, trail conquering rig, or your daily driver. It's five inches of width will give your boot or shoe a proper platform to assist you in climbing up in the saddle. The entire part is coated in RAL 9011 Graphite Black, then post machined to remove the coating from the top surface and reveal the raw billet aluminum and provide a very classy contrast. This will also give the STIRRUP years and years of rugged good looks. The more you step on the the more naturally worn the aluminum will look but it won't affect the Graphite Black coating.

The STIRRUP is mounted to your OEM rocker rail with M8 and M10 316 stainless fasteners. A single M8 bolt alone has 110,000 PSI tensile strength! The STIRRUP is definitely more solid than the rail it's mounted to. With its coating and the use of aluminum and stainless, the STIRRUP will require little maintenance and it will last the life of your Bronco.

The STIRRUP will be sold in pairs. This will also be a BRONCO6G exclusive part, at launch, and B6G members will always be eligible for the 20% discount. We're going to handle the purchasing a little differently this time....

AR | STIRRUP DROP BRACKET

Renders are below. The drop available from the standard STIRRUP is difference making 2". The drop bracket is substantially larger than the standard bracket. The STIRRUP Drop Bracket has been updated to the listing on the website as an option. For the majority of use cases the 2" drop would make a lot of sense.

The Drop Brackets retain all of the same ruggedness of the standard brackets. The exact same rail mount locations are used between the two brackets. So if for any reason you want to swap to a drop bracket down the road, it's a simple order and install deal. The Drop Brackets retain all of the same ruggedness of the standard brackets. They do hang down just that little bit more, so that's something to keep in mind if you do happen to find that trail with large rocks.

Drop Brackets are added to the website as both an option and will also be added later as a stand alone product. If you already have the STIRRUPS on order but want the Drop Brackets instead, email [email protected] with your Order Number. We'll make the note to your order on the back end so you receive the brackets you want, but you'll check out on the website for the new brackets, if it turns out that there's a substantial cost difference. There is no cost difference to change your order to the Drop Bracket.

One STIRRUP mount to rule them all!

The newly designed mount is going into prototyping now. Test fit tomorrow. The new mount bracket is everything for everyone. You’ll have the option of mounting at the standard height or 2” drop on the same bracket.

We’ll be employing a total of 4, 316 Stainless Hex drive screws @ 70,000 tensile strength each. Each billet mount has grown in size to allow for the mounts of the 2 bolts + the M10 bolt that mounts the STIRRUP to the mount bracket. The clamp style bracket will encompass about 70% of the circumference of the rail. In other words, they’ll be beefy units.

Like in the earlier post, once these are removed, there will be no residual signs that they were ever there. I’m thinking, this is exactly what we all need.
