Hello,

Have a non-Sasquatch Big Bend on the way and am thinking to do a 4" lift with 35" tires. I don't plan on doing heavy wheeling; however, I like to ride mountain bike trails and sometimes the roads to them aren't perfect. Would 20" rims be fine for this or should I really go with 18s? Thanks

Because all the posers cool kids do it…

Realistically..you want as much sidewall as you can get for any off-roading 15”-17” or 18” wheel and a 33”-35” tire. There are a few reasons for this specifically, the ride is much smoother, you have sidewall to spare in the event that you need to air down which also increases the footprint for better traction in wet and/or muddy trails, plus you run a lot less risk of puncturing or slicing the sidewall than you would running a 20” wheel with a smaller sidewall.

And please be sure to follow @Rick Astley for more tech tips….lol

To thin out the sidewall properly to gain traction, try to fit 24" wheels.

That will clear any size caliper known to man and it's basically an electro-magnet for chicks phone numbers in the Warehouse, Rainey or Red River districts!

If the man wants to be sitting on dubs leave him be to make a bad choice.

But yeah don't do it. But if you do it please post a picture so we can praise (shame) you.

Nobody shaming him (yet)…he actually asked a simple question of if he could do 20”s or if 18”s would be a better choice.

If he does the 20”s then we’ll grab the pitchforks!

I've seen quite a few people do the 3.5" RC lift on 35s and 20s and it looks great... but 18s look good too and are more versatile so would rather go with that.

For what you want to do 20s and 35s will work. You'll have more sidewall than a stock OBX. I'd stick to a 2-3" lift though.

Personally I think they look silly but it's your ride.

You will be fine on anything deemed an actual road with 35s on 20s. I'll laugh at you, but that won't stop you from making it there.

You'd have to be a little nutty to go where I did that, I don't think OP has any intention of it! I also trashed all my wheels and I don't sense he wants that risk either.

I put 35s on my ram with the stock 20s. You might scrape the rims on rocks, but it'll do light trails
