Are catalytic converters covered under factory warranty?

Ran a flowmaster exaust and started to small sulfur a lot after I switched to Oem, dealer said I blew my cat because my mpg is dropping and I’m loosing boost when I accelerate

Is the dealer saying the flowmaster damaged the cat? If they aren't then yes, warranty should cover, if they're saying it did then I'd reach out to flowmaster for guidance.

They don’t know I had the flowmaster because I switched it out before I brought it there

I mean, if the cat failed under warranty, you are covered. If it failed because of your mod, it's not, though you may be able to get something from flowmaster if the install was done correctly. How you handle this is.....up to you....

I just picked my rig up on Wednesday and specifically asked about what was included / excluded in the warranties. They told me that cats were considered consumables, like brakes or wiper blades. I don't know if this is a new stance due to the recent thefts or something that has been around for a while. Anyhow, I'd speak with Flowmaster 1st and see what they're willing to help with given it's a fairly new product rollout. If nothing there, give the dealership a chance... but my guy says that they won't cover it.

This is 100% incorrect.

Catalytic converters are covered under base emissions warranty which is 8 year/80k miles

Man I sure hope they're covered. At least where I live they have "California special" they're like $400 for a Honda Civic!

Retail price for both converters on a 2.7 is $4,308.57 lol

I have never heard of any aftermarket cat back causing a converter failure. Im curious to what faults theyre getting and why they think its a converter.

They're tucked up pretty high. I don't think anyone would have a very easy time cutting them out with or without bash plates.
