If we put too many EV’s on the road we’re going to have to build a bunch of generating plants. Hummm

Because I’m curious- are gas prices having you reconsider buying a bronco? I assume many (myself included) aren’t exactly driving green vehicles at the moment anyway, but I figure there are a good amount that ordered these when gas was $2.50 a gallon. Is there a line where you break off interest?
Already own 2 door badlands and I wouldn’t reconsider. Filled up with premium at $5.90 this morning.

At $20 I’d plan my driving more carefully. You can carry a Jerry can of extra gas with you into the hinterlands but not of electrons.
Generators have been around for some time.🤷‍♂️

Median miles driven per year is ~12,000 supposedly.

Consider:
A Squatched Bronco which might get 15
A Base Bronco which ought to get 20
An eco-boost mustang which gets about 25
Maverick Hybrid - I'll use 30, which is what Car and Driver got in a real world test.

Let's use $5 gas.

MilesMPGGallons/year$$/ Year
12000158004000
12000206003000
12000254802400
12000304002000

What are you going to do instead, buy a Mach-E for $60K. Even if electricity was free, it would take 20 years to save out over a Base.
that maverick hybrid MPG is HORSESHIT though...PLAIN and simple. I own one, avg 43 MPG over 5k miles, 40 percent hwy, 60 city...Once you LEARN how to drive it to maximize efficiency, you can kill it. Just because some assclowns from car and driver took out a maverick, drove it hard, put it away wet doesn't make it right.

The Bronco at 18.4 MPG gets better mileage than my 2011 F-150 which gets 17 MPG.

No, when I ordered I calculated the difference I’d be spending in gas at $5/gal so not an issue

I’m a remote employee so my Bronco doesn’t get many daily miles. It’s mostly a weekend car for us.

We drive the wife’s explorer for most little things and road trips. The gas mileage there is not any better, but it takes E85 which is significantly cheaper.

Gas is about to pass $10/gallon in California.

So a 20.8 Gallon Bronco tank filled at $10/gallon = $208 for a full tank

The average American drives 1,200 miles/month.

This means that if a Bronco Raptor owner gets 15MPG, he will need 80 gallons of gas/month.

(80 Gallons of Gas) x ($10/Gallon) = $800!!! It looks like it could be nearly $10,000/year to drive a Bronco Raptor in California!

I'm just glad it's a weekend toy.
Mine will be a daily driver. My current Sierra gets 16mpg as well. Only difference I'll have to get used to, is that is a 25g tank and Bronco 2D is 17 (?) I believe? Also, am totally curious -- are you able to get a special insurance rate on weekend "toys" since mileage would be super low?

I had one car that was below 5000 miles a year and it's rate was lower I believe. I'm looking at probably doing 100 miles or so a month with the Bronco after the new wears off.

Yes, you tell your insurance company how many miles the vehicle is driven throughout the year and they should adjust the premium.

I'm starting to question whether I should trade in my car or keep it. 2016 Taurus 3.5L gets 28 mpg. on average and over 30 mpg. on the interstate.
