Are roof leaks common on these types of cars?

303 protectant every couple months on seals and molded plastic will keep it in great shape
You beat me to it Ryan. OP, these type tops have gotten much better over the years. I've owned Verts, and T-tops for quite a while without any problems. The key is what Ryan said, remove, clean, and wipe the seals down with a protectant every now and then. You'll be fine.

My daily is a 2015 JKU Rubicon. The only time I've had a leak is when I didn't seat one of the front panels back in place correctly and it was slightly offset.

The reason jeeps leak is because it's a Fiat POS. The carpet in my 14 JK was replaced twice. It was at the dealer 3 times for leaks. The last time they had it for 32 days. Yes over a month. Even sent it to a body shop. Once it dried out... I sold it. I hope Ford has the top figured out since you can't get a 2 door with a soft top.

Ive had 3 corvettes with removable tops and not 1 leak.. my silverado had a leak on the roof because of the rear brake light.

Just make sure you properly attached the panels and you will be fine until the weather stripping goes bad.

It's a beautiful day here in Jersey, perfect convertible weather.

Days like today are the perfect time to justify any potential issues

I agree with the everyone should own a convertible at least once in their lifetime. Any inconvenience is quickly forgotten on a beautiful day with the top down. I miss my Mustang convertible. Can’t wait for the a Bronco...best of both worlds: hunting, fishing camping rig that’s a convertible. “Oh, we precious few...”

My JKU softtop is 12 years and no (water) leaks. Header wind noise is a different beast.
The passenger side Freedom Panel will get water in it if parked uphill, and then leak on my passenger’s laps randomly.

I mean yeah, more common than a car with a solid roof and no sunroof. There's modular panels (or a soft top with seams) up there so of course it's "more" likely.

With that said, my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee sunroof leaks like a sieve in heavy rain if the drain tubes get stopped up. I had a 2012 JK Sahara two door with both tops for a few years and as far as I know it never leaked a drop with either top, even with my switching tops out a couple of times a year.

I feel like if you take the roof off and put it back on properly you're good. Just make sure everything is aligned and seated properly. And is it ages, take care of the seals.

I really hope Ford learned from Jeep screw up on the "piss canal" above the door..... haven't been paying attention to see how there going to move water....

I would invest in a good car cover if not using a garage.

The new generation Wrangler had windshield more slanted but jeep engineers did not think to extend roof rails enough to channel water from pouring into interior when doors were opened; the Bronco hardtops have a raised lip at the outer edges to correct this mistake.
