Well crap, there goes that theory.
I just thought it was interesting seeing them stacked up together like this. They are noticeably smaller than the Nitto 315/70s.

If no one said it already Goodyears run small I think they are 34.6. Actually most 35,s aren’t 35,s. most are 34.5-34.8. Like other said you will have to google actual size of each tire brand and model. To make sure your mounting a true 35 if you have to be have 35,s. As far as the tread wide differences no idea

You are correct not all tires measure out the same. In this case they both show to be almost the exact same per their specs.

Wow.

The Goodyear is clearly not as wide as claimed. Or the Notto’s are far wider than claimed. Those concerned about sidewall compression due to the stack simply need to look at the top tire… there’s nothing there to compress on the Goodyear… it’s simply a pizza cutter tire.

Every tire manufacturer lists the outside diameter in the tire spec. Goodyear never said it’s a 35.” Ford says it’s a 35” but it’s not.

Most 35s are not a true 35 inches, but regardless it was interesting to see two different tires with the exact same specs for height and width and the visible difference between the two.

My cousin runs the 35"x12.5" 17" Goodyear Mud Terrains on his Jeep and they are noticeably taller when the vehicles are side by side, even though Goodyear specs them out as 34.8" tall. My unofficial 'field' measurement guess is that they are about 1" taller.

The angle is far better in the bottom tire in the second picture to visually compare them, but the top tire(s) eyeballs about the same. My guess is that you didn't pay close attention to the original post and are looking at the middle and right stack (the right-most tire stack is a totally different sized tire that is a while lot bigger in every dimension) instead of the center and left stack.

Are those actually 315s or the 285s put on the non-squatch?

They are the 315s that come on the FE Broncos. All FE Broncos have the Sasquatch package.

Nope, it's always by section width, tread width is typically 1-2 inches narrower
All I know is visually and probably physically the Nitto looks a lot Wider especially at the tread and that’s what I like! All Selling them first day when my Squatch comes………………………….🦗

I just measured and they are only 33.5" tall.

Ditto on selling them - anyone want to make an offer - only 3k on them;)? For the record though, they drive very good on the street, perfectly balanced and quiet. Off-road they aren't bad either, both on the rocks and in the snow. Probably make a good FJ or 4Runner tire.

I measured my Sasquatch "35s" yesterday. Mounted on the Bronco they are 33.5" Tall. So much for 35s.
