My father bought his first Ford from Wilson Ford in Corvallis in 1971. It was a Bronco which he kept bone stock until he sold it in 85. I learned to drive in it and am still trying to buy it from the current owner. Seems fitting to buy a Bronco 50 years after dad did from the same dealer. ?

I liked Wilson Ford. My wife went to OSU and we bought an Escort and a Ranger from them. I have bought or leased 6 vehicles from my current dealer, loved my salesman too. Unfortunately he passed away last year, now I am not sure what I think. They assigned me a new person, so far nothing special.

I switched to Granger but my original reservation was through a dealer near me. I've bought one car from them before and tried to buy another. both times I was not happy with them at all.

I'm friends with the owner of the dealership I'm going through. My wife and his wife went to college together. :) It's 8 hours away, but it's also halfway to my hometown, so I'll make a vacation out of it next summer as well.

Are you reserved at Wilson? My dads salesmen was Gene Gulledge but he passed in 2001. I’m using a young guy named Cody but he’s been very responsive.

Nope, we live in MI now (again). We may find our way back to Corvallis someday, it was still our favorite place to have lived.

I don't see the point. It is too easy to shop around and handle negotiations over email and other than warranty work why would I go back there? I look at dealers as unneeded middlemen and I would much rather have Tesla (or European) model where that's the price, no negotiations, no "added value" like GPS tracking, "paint protection" or other B.S. no one wants.

Yes, even though they dont have the greatest reputation I've bought both my Fords from them. My father was a builder and purchased lots of work vehicles from them in the past, so they usually recognize the name when I come in and I get some preferential treatment. I also get A plan, so even though they technically can't mess with pricing anyways everything will help in this situation.

Incidentally, my dad ordered 3 Excursions when they were first released. They were a bit of a hot item as well, and they were the first 3 this dealer got. So after my dad purchased them, they immediately offered him $2k above what he paid for each, which my dad accepted and they then put them on their "USED" lot with a markup. This is also metro Detroit so almost everyone here has some kind of X, A, Z plan. The bigger benefit to the dealer was that they didn't have to honor plan pricing because they were technically used.
