No Bronco here but I do have a 2.0L EB. The owners manual says 87 is fine but 93 is recommended for maximum performance.

I'm sure it has to do with turbo compression and the engine backing off on lower octane to avoid knocking.

I was wondering the same thing, I have always ran 87. Slightly considering changing in my Bronco but not completely sure yet.

Don't forget you have to feed it. That'll cost more than gas lol

I will be running 93, but that's only because 93 at Costco is cheaper than 87 everywhere else. If the gas prices keep going up, I'll have to use 87, which is still under $3 a gallon at Costco.

You guys going basic gas or using premium when you fill up?
This got me thinking-- being new, and relatively easy to access on 4x4--- be careful.

“Since 2019, we’ve seen a 300% increase in the theft of catalytic converters,” said David Glawe, the president and CEO of the National Insurance Crime Bureau.

Hi. I have a 2dr FE, 2.7 auto. Owned it for a week so I din't have much data to contribute, however after burning off the dealer fill tank (which was likely the cheapest, lowest octane rating fuel) in 270 miles, I filled up with Sunoco 93, and the fuel gauge didn't budge off the full line on the 60 mile ride home. No, I didn't overfill. Engine is still too new to floor it so I can't give seat of the pants difference.

My 1.5L ecoboost 4 cyl Fusion responds very well to high octane rating fuel. Difference on the Fusion is 28 mpg on long highway trips (200 miles+) on Sunoco 87, 34 mpg on Sunoco 93. The money math doesn't work out cost wise, but on a long trip it makes sense for me to get 93 so I stop less frequently for fuel. I made it from Northeast PA to the Florida border with one fuel stop on Sunoco 93.

Just as a reminder switching octanes will increase likelihood of detonation down the line. Every good mechanic will recommend sticking with one octane for the life of the engine.
91 every day all day.

Costco in Arkansas usually cheaper by .25

premium only so far, but my daily drive is 3-5 miles or so, so really make little difference. If I'd have a longer commute I'd probably do 87 and then premium when going on a road trip or hitting some trails.
