This is common knowledge. If you look at the manufacture's specs they list the tire size as wells say as the overall diameter.I know, this thread is a real "wake the kids and call the neighbors moment" isn't it.

I think that the reason that no one else is as surprised by this as you, is that all of this is common knowledge at this point. The Goodyear's do have one of the narrowest treads in the "35 inch market". They are also very soft, and lightweight. Therefore, no one understands why you bought them (we know that they were advertised as OEM "35's", but someone with your background should not have fallen for that as a reason to buy). And as I scroll down here is another post about this issue haha!

Granted these tires have weight of the stack and the sidewalls are structured differently, it doesn't create enough of an issue that 5 stacked MTs match 4 true to size 315's.
Lol just recently I took a motorcycle tire and rim to be mounted 2 shops couldn't do it . I brought it home and did the starting fluid method ,it worked gf said that was the most dangerous thing I've ever seen! Ya stick around it'll get worse
Cant lie to them. They know the truthWhen I have this conversation about length and girth with my wife I always round up. Don't you?
1) I hate these tires but, Good year never claimed they are 35 inch tires, they're metric 315/70R17 tires 2) most tires don't measure true to size. ( they are usually smaller) tire manufactures even provide these specs.Hello All
I have been reading through these forums for a while as I contemplate ordering a Bronco. Until then I drive a 2019 F150 that is set up for Overlanding. That being said, it was time to change to a different wheel and tire set up to better accommodate my needs. I was in the market for a 35x12.5 inch tire to maximize my clearance and contact pattern while offroad. While searching, I came across the factory GoodYear Territory MT's that come on the Sasquatch packages. They were surprisingly cheaper and readily available, something that is rare to see nowadays with tires on backorder and outrageously priced. So I ordered a set and quickly became disappointed. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. My current Tire Size on my truck is a 285/65R20, Cooper Discoverer AT3s (Which are an absolutely amazing tire, just dont come in a 35x12.5R17)
The GY tires are smaller in tread width, overall width, and height (when added with weight) when compared to my 285/65R20s w/15K miles, not something I was expecting at all; considering they're suppose to be 315/70R17s. With a tire that is supposedly ~12.4 inches wide, I would expect the tread width to be over 10 inches and not a measly 9; also factor in the unweighted height that would likely be shorter than my 285's. Hugely disappointed that Goodyear would even consider advertising this tire in that size, when it is clearly not; not going to get into specifics, I know tire sizes are not true blah blah. I always thought that these looked smaller than a 35 while on the Bronco, and I am right. The last picture is of factory Raptor wheels and tires, to which are much more true to size. Just thought I'd chime in on some personal experience and information here for anybody that may be looking in the future.
TLDR; Your 315/70R17 GoodYear Territory MTs are not playing tricks on your eyes, they are smaller than the advertised 35" size. Shame on Ford and Goodyear!
Based on what measurements? BFGs are notoriously smaller than listed. Their 37…is closer to an actual 35. Their 285s are also significantly smaller than claimed.I agree with op here, those are not true 315/70/17 tires, tread width is listed as 9.2" which is narrower than the 285/70/17 BFGs on my badlands non-squatch, they should be wider than that. They should be just under 34" mounted and close to 34.4" unmounted instead of 33.75".....looks like the Sasquatch goodyears are close in size the BFG 285/70/17s.....probably almost identical to 285/75/17
