Over the years of working on cars, I have seen a lot of odds and ends that were either accidentally or intentionally left behind, or even stuffed into a crevice. Some of these were rags, cigarette butts, gum wrappers, tools, safety glasses and even a half eaten sandwich.

It seems that quite a few people are finding "things," for want of a better word, that were left behind after their Broncos left the assembly line. Lets make this a thread for sharing those surprise gifts.

Found whatever this cap protected in the engine bay while zip tying up that infamous hose.

I believe that most likely capped off the end of an a/c line prior to assembly.

but to answer your question, I had a customers new Ranger in the 2000’s with a terrible noise buzz/vibration sound at highway speeds from the floorboard.

raised the vehicle on a lift and found a rubber band placed around the diameter of the driveshaft with a paper clip attached.

No effect most of the time, but at higher speeds the weight of the paperclip and centrifugal force would cause the rubber band to stretch and the spinning paperclip would contact the transmission/driveshaft tunnel of the vehicle causing a loud “buzz” sound.

may have been unintentional coincidence but if not somebody was a clever prankster.

Haha, sounds like a prank. I sometimes like to take a long ziptie and zip it to a driveshaft (of someone I know) such that the tag end sticks out and makes a clicking noise while driving. It’s hilarious, but the people I have done it to work on their own vehicles and can find it fairly quickly.

Edit: I’m stealing the rubber band and paperclip idea, why didn’t I think of this. This is some next level stuff 😂. I like that it only makes noise at higher speeds, will make it a bit harder to diagnose.

When I worked at the truck plant the supervisor told us to put the plastics in the frame of the truck than they wouldn’t make a mess of our area. A few week later he told us to stop doing it because they were all over Michigan Avenue.

This thread reminded me of my brothers '69 Chevelle, he had a rattle in the drivers door, took it the dealer, they popped the door card and found a empty vodka bottle stashed in the door. :ROFLMAO:

My only surprise so far with the Bronco is when I pulled the black plastic accessory panel off the tailgate to install the tailgate table it wasn't painted underneath. So much so that when the table was installed if you look down behind the table you would see the primer, got a can of AMB spray paint and gave it spray.

I was replacing the floors in my '67 mustang last winter and found an "F" inside the passenger side frame rail. It was the same size and font as the FORD letters on the hood.

I didn't take a picture but the other day when I was installing my front mud flaps I noticed that there was a bolt in the outside hole of each of the crash bar mounting points. They were only tightened halfway but they were still doing a great job of keeping some air right where it was supposed to be. 🥳

I'm just here to join the fun and guess what the random things are that people find.

I hope someone found an extra cup holder somewhere.
