Dang man. When I heard you had to replace the brakes I assumed something odd with a sticking caliper or something really minor.
In my mind I was thinking "Yeah, no problem. Easy Saturday afternoon once parts are in."

Then I saw this thread.

Just wow. Definitely freak situation. Hopefully it all checks out in time for your journeys.

That does suck TD. That must be a "one of a kind" boo boo as I've not seen anything like that happen before. But as the old saying goes, "if we gonna play, we gotta pay". :) Hope you get your baby back out there soon.

OK they said they're going to put the parts in as soon they come in early next week, that's a relief.

I'm thinking about going ahead and ordering a set of UCAs. Any recommendations? The Fabtech kit with rear lowers looks decent.

Bummer...if you do decide to do the work yourself, this video might help, in particular the part about putting brakes in maintenance mode first and especially if you have a 4.7 with the electric boost brakes!

I'm a little mad about the caliper, there is nothing wrong with it. Not a scratch. But I don't have time to dick around.
Not sure it would work from a repair work flow stand point but you might ask them to leave the caliper for last to see if it's really needed after replacing everything else. $700 saved is that in your pocket for next upgrade or repair.

I hemmed and hawwed on that one but in the end I couldn't risk delaying the repairs. I need it back by 6/16 or my road trip is off.

Totally get that; not worth messing up a vacation over $700 when dealership is recommending replacement (and it's your brakes).

Update.

Service says a new ABS sensor, brake line, caliper, and control arm are needed.

I'm calling BS on the caliper. It didn't have a single mark on it. They want $700 for that, insane, but I might suck it up and pay it just to get it over with. The little rash on the control arm is fine, I'm certainly not paying the $1200 they quoted for it.

All in the parts total $2321. Huge markups.
What dealer you are using?

Dealer says parts came in yesterday, they should be working on it tomorrow, and I might have it back Friday. 🤞

My fears have been realized. They are now saying bad ABS module. Another 2k, bringing my total to over 3k.
