Been killin time by getting in some left seat time. Even took @Razorbak86 out a few times in a 172. Nothing like being close and personal, eh?
Headed to Alabama in September to get my sea plane rating. Hope I have the Bronco by then as the Tacoma is sans A/C.

Me sitting in this P-38G Lighting in 1992. It's now on display at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

This historic military aircraft, now on display at Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson. Serial number 42-13400, It entered service in the in 1942, during WWII. In January 1945 it was taken out on a training mission at Attu Island by 2d Lt. Robert Nesmith. While flying low over the Tenmac River, Nesmith experienced fluctuations in one of the engines, and was forced to put the aircraft down. He crash-landed the aircraft in the valley without injury to himself.

The aircraft was abandoned at the crash site, the Air Force stripping it of salvageable materials. The hulk remained in situ for many years, and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. The hulk was recovered in 1999 by Air Force veterans and brought to Elmendorf AFB, where it underwent restoration to correct the ravages of weather and damage done by the original salvage operation. It was placed on display at Elmendorf in 2000.

Not sure if you guys heard this one already but I thought it was hilarious
Thank you for posting that “LA Speed Check” video. I managed to locate the original source video for the speech from which that little vignette was clipped. The speech was delivered at the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory back in 2016.

The speaker‘s name is Major Brian Shul. According to Wikipedia, Major Shul was a Vietnam War-era attack pilot and a retired major in the United States Air Force (USAF). He flew 212 combat missions and was shot down near the end of the war. He was so badly burned that he was given next to no chance to live. Surviving, he returned to full flight status, flying the SR-71 Blackbird. Major Shul completed a 20-year career in the Air Force. He has written four books on aviation and runs a photo studio in Marysville, California.

If any of Major Shul’s story sounds even remotely interesting to you, I would encourage you to watch the video below. He is an incredibly inspiration speaker, with natural gifts of both humor and optimism.

I hope you enjoy it as much as I did!

So my love for the Bronco is pretty good but my first love Bronco is this one! I first worked on them in the late 1980's and early 90's in the Marine Corps, now I work on restoring them and am a Crew Chief.
