Nice setup! Do you happen to have any photos from the side and/or standing a bit farther back from the vehicle?

I’m also curious about how the Yakima platform mounts to the Badass rack.
Sure thing. I will attach some photos below. Hopefully you can see in the pictures, but the Yakima platform comes with four clamps with these sled type things to attach at each corner to basically any kind of crossbars.

I've also just today ordered the fence kit to add to the platform.

Awesome, thank you.

That thing is pretty sizable and I like how it extends forward. Any idea what the weight capacity of the Badass rack is and how much of it the Yakima rack eats up?

The Badass Tents site says the rack is rated to 75 pounds, but that seems very conservative to me. I'm not sure the exact weight of the Yakima platform but unfortunately the shipping weight was 50 pounds, so yeah, the Yakima rack does eat up quite a bit of the "rated" capacity.

Not that I want to push the limit on rated weight. I don't know how much the MIC can really withstand, so don't want to test that too much. I plan to use the rack for bulky items that aren't too heavy, and recovery boards, rotopax, etc.

Half rack folks...do you think you could hoist the rear hardtop portion up from the rack? Seems like it would be a simple solution for lifting it up in the garage. Wondering if the 4 mounting/clip points would be suitable for grabbing and holding the rack in air.

can the full rack be discontinuous, ie short rear rack plus short fwd rack so you can still remove panels and mic top?

Is this the 60x54 LocknLoad rack?

I am also hoping for this. I'd love to have a front piece (with integrated lighting) that could disconnect from the rest so that you didn't have to remove and unplug your lighting everytime you wanted to take the front half of the rack off and run with only the back half. Ideally that front piece could support some weight on it's own but even if it was only rated when fully connected to the rest then it would still be very helpful.

I haven't heard much of any since it sits so far back, I get more coming from OEM top panel than anything this half rack creates.

Yes, my top is hanging in my garage right now from my BA 1/2 rack right now. I also have the side mounts with 2 rotopax mounted and no problem at all. For my Jeeps in the past I had the big cable/cross bar style ceiling lifts, made my own with winch, etc. etc. But the easiest and best solution I found was the simplest (and cheapest). I have 4 eye bolts mounted (about 10" outside of top exterior dimensions to ensure no shifting while hanging) with 4 - 1,000lb cam-lock straps that I simply hook onto rack cross bars at each end. When I remove top I just lift a corner, pull on strap to give about 2" of clearance, then repeat with other 3 corners. Easy, fast, cheap one person job to remove while keeping off the garage floor (and to put back on by just backing under it then releasing cam-lock on straps one by one.
