Based on this thread I bought a $10 set of Torx Plus bits from Amazon and T+40 is too big! T+40 does not fit. T40 fits but has some wiggle room. Maybe it's a T+39 or a T41, haha!

Here's the best I could do with my cell phone (T+40 on the left, bronco bolt, T40 on the right)

Yea I am very puzzled by this. I'm also finding that my vin says I should have certain options that I can't seem to find. Most notably it says I should have a universal garage remote on visor, not there. I wonder what else I'm missing

I just used a regular T40 (not plus). It wiggles and doesn't feel right but doesn't cam out and strip.

So your torx+ bit only has 5 points, it ain't gonna fit no how. the tooth porfile looks square like the bolt head but not enough points.

Just have to be careful when using T40. It's just one of those misteries.

As others have said. It's a TP40. Torx Plus 40.

It's a TP40, trust me. So are the other bolts within the bronco. They went with a TP setup it looks like.

I used this kit and no slippage at all

It's not junk, it's a tamper resistant torx plus, which has 5 lobes. See the giant cut out circle in the middle? That's the tamper resistant bit. You don't want tamper resistant torx plus, you just want torx plus which has 6 lobes.

That's crazy if that's the actual specification. The non-plus Torx security bit (in the same picture) has the same six lobes as a regular Torx bit. I've got a new set of non-security Torx plus (confirmed 6 lobes in the product picture) on the way from Amazon. Will report back.
