We liked the OBX, color matched flares and mirrors, preferred the interior. We got ours with the rear locker, added a front bumper, skids and steps/sliders, did a low lift for better ride, powdercoated the factory wheels and added 34" tires.

Daily drives AND wheels awesome.

I daily drive a BL non-sas. My commute is 25 miles at speeds up to 90mph. I also drive from TX to FL several times a year. Couldn't be happier.

Many people that have installed BL suspensions on their OBX's report that the ride quality is much improved with the BL shocks.

If you go OBX, make sure you get the rear locker. Front and rear lockers are standard on BL.
You don't have to be a hard core off-roader to find uses for a locker. Pulling a boat up a wet ramp, for example.

Looking at a bronco for the hubby. He does mostly city driving with some hwy but he can get a '23 Badlands fully loaded 4k less than a semi loaded '23 OBX (dealer is non-negotiable about the price). Thoughts? Don't mind the gas mileage difference, just wondering if badlands is ok for city driving. Heard OBX Is more geared towards that.
bad lands hands down

I'm completely biased, and admit to it, so my vote is the Badlands.

Obx is a mall crawler trim in comparison and if it's $4k more, not worth it, even with the 2.7. I drive my manual into the 5 boroughs occasionally, it can handle the rough terrain of the city just as easily as the trails, so there's peace of mind there. I personally avg 16ish, but I also drive my girl like I stole her, and am rocking 35's now to boot

Correction: after looking at the badlands again-- it doesn't have SAS. It's a 4 cylinder with lux package (no sas) but a bunch of add-ons.
A non Sas Badlands will be ideal for your use case, better than Sas. And of less expensive than the OBX a much betteer deal.

I would keep looking…non Sasquatch OBX 4k over BL is a non starter as is a 4cyl BL imho…I would looking for a non Sasquatch obx with v6, high/lux & advanced transfer case in your/his shoes (you do not need Sasquatch) but there really is little difference between trims similarly equipped…

The Badlands was the original high model before the WildTrak. So generally, unless it's a V6, there can't be a lot of reason the OBX is that much more. Anyhow, the BL is going to be better equipped (AFAICT) just based on where it lands in the model hierarchy. We would need to see the window stickers (if you have the VINs, post them, we can find the stickers online) to give you a better assessment.

@mpeugeot is a big OBX booster, so worth it to see what he says compared to all the BL fans who've posted.

You're in Iowa? Have you checked with Granger? They are one of the best dealers in the country.

Check other dealers, Broncos are stacking up on dealer lots. $8000 off here in Phoenix

The Badlands is the right choice and I owned a 23 Outer Banks and still own a 21 Outer Banks lux package. The Badlands is better in every meaningful way, except for the engine, but it's close enough not to be a deal breaker.

The Outerbanks with the advanced 4x4 transfer case is not a mall crawler, but many non-sasquatch OBX Broncos don't have it. Still, in this case, given the price difference, it seems like the Badlands is the better buy and will retain more value at resale.

The non-sasquatch Badlands has front and rear lockers, the advanced transfer case, the sway bar disconnect, and better rims/tires/gears for commuting than the Sasquatch package variants.
