Hadn't seen anyone else post about these so figured I'd put something up. Just installed this morning.

https://barnes4wd.com/products/bronco-rear-shock-skid-plate

I wanted something at least 3/16", that went up pretty high to protect the reservoir, and that didn't use the shock bolt/nut. All the others I found were ~2x the price.

I've bought from Barnes before, they've always done me right. Only builder parts though, no finished products.

Looks like they have a bunch of Bronco stuff now.

Same, but stumbled on these looking for something else. They also have A-arm skids on their site. Hopefully they'll come out with more stuff.

Is this big opening on the bottom? If so, it looks like it would be a big snag point 🤷‍♂️ . You are sliding along and then what ever you are on snags the opening.

Yes, it's on the bottom, but the shock fills in most of that hole. I was looking more for front protection (strikes) than bottom protection (sliding). Even so, I don't think it will be a problem.

I have these too, best price out there but they’ve been found out, out of stock currently and regularly. Also available in their eBay store when in stock. Big hole in bottom ensures tight tuck to lower shock bracket and allows for aftermarket lower shock eyelet size differences. Drainage of crud is superior with this design as well. Their logo on the front is a B in a star so could stand for the B in Bronco if you’re vain like me.

I love that they cover the rear of the shock a bit too, most others stop under the axle.

Being new to offroad how often does one drag their shock mount? Seems slow close to the tire you would have to be in some really rocky terrain.

Ideally, not often as your tire should be on the rock/obstacle. But on the Bronco (and Jeep too) the rear shock mounts hang down really low. Just some added protection, especially for the resevoir in front (on Sasquatch). There are pics in other threads where people have shown where they hit. I also saw one where the mount was bent but now I can't find it.

Do these require the shock bolt to come out? Looks like they don't.

Nope, three smaller bolts in factory holes so no complicated jacking/supporting and mega high torque spec.

Exactly why I purchased these over the other options (plus the price was more reasonable)
