Beach driving best in 4 High or Sand Mode?

Just wondering if most of you just put it in 4 high or use the sand mode . I tried sand mode but the gearing was a little much so I switched to 4h and locked the rear . Just for reference I have a 2022 Sasquatch .

Sand mode will have more aggressive throttle mapping and shift points. It also engages the rear locker (which you can turn off)

Not a ton of difference, from normal mode. Try both with and without the rear locker on and go with what you like the most.

I do most of my off roading in sand mode (unlocked) as I like the better throttle response and the holding of the lower gears longer.

This was at the southern end of the 60 mile (120 round trip) Padre Island National Seashore trek I made back in June. I was able to drive most of it in 3rd, with cruise=30mph, so as to better enjoy the scenery.

If it’s not deep (like Daytona) you can do sand in 2WD. 4H and air down otherwise.

Beach sand is not a single thing. If you go out on Nauset on the outer Cape, the sand is so fine, you have to air down. Where the beach sand is more granular and hard-packed, you can get away with 2H.

You gotta play around with what works for your conditions and rig. Generally, I would try to not travel around with the rear locker engaged. Lockers are for getting unstuck, or dealing with a specific obstacle or challenge. Driving on the beach should not require lockers.

I did the trip back up at 45-55 mph, in mostly the rough deep sand. So much fun! My other half hit 60 at one point going down.

4H. Less air the more sand. 18 PSI the lowest I have gone so far. Only need 4L if it’s really bad.

Depends on the beach, the softness of the sand, and the speed limit, so you don't have alot of gear hunting.

I recently did all 60 miles (both ways) of the Padre Island National Seashore in 2wd. I aired down to 20 and turned off traction control, zero issues.
