So what’s the best jerry/gas can out there? I don’t need a fancy mounting one. But my understanding is gas fumes will evaporate over time so I assume some lock that in better than others?

Also - I’ve never used a gas can to fill up a newer vehicle before. Unlike a gas station pump, I am assuming you can overflow the tank? Or is there something to stop that, even with a gas can?

Thanks!

If you get to the point where you're adding gas from a jerry can, you won't be overfilling the tank.
I dunno… the tanks pretty small on the Bronco :ROFLMAO:

You also won't be getting back to a fuel source. At 18MPG (best case), you'll get closer to gas, so you won't have to walk as far... I guess.
They look cool though.

I hope you aren’t getting 18mpg for a best case. I am averaging 22 in town with the 2.3L. I hope my 3 gallons will get me 50 miles to a gas station puttering around on a trail lol. If not, that is just piss poor planning on my behalf Or i poked a hole in my tank lol

Yeah, that's what I was getting at... the piss poor planning (never drive out so far you need more fuel than you carry). I was making an assumption that milage would be low[er] on the trail also.

These are the real deal, NATO-spec metal jerry cans:
https://www.roverparts.com/off-road-accessories/jerry-cans/GJC20/

Occasionally they have deals throughout the year such as free shipping or better pricing. They sell on eBay too.
I had to paint mine red so the gas lt attendant wouldn't shut my pump off when I was filling them!

The wavian Jerry cans would be my recommendation. Ive tried many different solutions over the years on my old Tacoma.

Random comments below in no particular order

- I’m NOT a fan of the rotopax fuel cells, but they do have their application exceptions. The CA compliant spout that comes with their fuel cans are complete garbage. Throw them in the garbage and order a water spout. Seriously, right in the garbage.
- all fuel cans will need to be burped regularly to allow for pressure change so don’t overfill them out they will splash you.
- all fuel cans should be stored outside the vehicle.
- in the long run a rear bumper with a swing gate is the ultimate solution. JCR is the only one I’ve seen so far. https://www.jcroffroad.com/product/BR6RV.html

I will be watching the aftermarket closely here. The rear bumper is far more important to me than the front. I had a High clearance bushmaster rear bumper with dual swing outs and dual camp tables on my Tacoma and it was awesome. Having the ability to easily carry water or extra fuel is a must, especially given the size of the gas tank on the 2D.

I tried many different ones over the years and those are the best, however, 5 gal is too heavy though.

The largest I use is the 2.6 gal and ya they cost almost the same but their worth it for convenience.

And my most used size is the 1.3 gal. It's small and lightweight.

You'l need a spout which they sell or you can use a giggle syphon to transfer fuel from the can into your vehicle.

You're not supposed to store these inside the vehicle but I do and have been for years. They seal perfectly, no fumes, no evaporation. There's a video of these being placed in a fire and the expand but no blow up. I wouldn't want test that with me inside the vehicle but reality is if you're trapped in a burning vehicle you be dead in seconds.
