Came across this thread ( 3000 mile cross country road trip in Bronco Badlands ) and wanted feedback on the best way to save a Bronco's windshield? Jeep is offering Gorilla Glass windshields as an option. Years ago a buddy had a FJ and cracks/chips/replacements was one of the reasons he traded it in.

Just curious.

Order some of that new Sasquatch glass!

seriously, it’s a nearly vertical windshield. It’s going to happen. Don’t follow trucks or other 4x4 vehicles too close. Get chips fixed right away before they turn into cracks.

I have to put a windshield in my vehicles every year or two due to the gravel on the roads in the winter, just one of those things. I haven't heard of anything that works and holds up.

Anyone know if the tear offs they use in NASCAR are commercial available for other vehicles?

With the vertical windshield these posts make sense, but, I drove and towed behind a motorhome (with no flaps), a Wrangler for 13 years and never broke a windshield. Other vehicles I have, so who knows? Luck of the draw? Hoping my Bronco is no bigger issue than the Jeep.

"The simplest way… don’t follow to closely."

Oh, and I agree with this, or in the case of towing, follow real close...lol

Worthless. They are only good for 8-12 months max...and then need to be replaced
