Lol. It's because you were WAY too close for rocks to reach the windshield.
The rock was in the air and the driver ran into it. It's your fault as the driver you could had avoided it. Need to swerve more. We need rock sensors. Hummm , I need to get to work on my new invention.

Weird, considering in the other thread mentioned by OP, one guy installed a hood deflector and said it was night and day (amount of bugs on the windshield). Also Ford says it deviates rocks from the Windshield. I guess it depends at what height and angle the rock is hitting but it could for sure help in some cases
I may have to get a deflector for the next time. Got a chip this morning, going to safelite at 2

Turn your windshield wipers on high and try to bat them away :ROFLMAO:. Or place a metal plate over it and use a periscope to drive with 🤔.

Maybe the aerodynamics of the Bronco will be different and a deflector will work, but I'm not a big fan of the look anymore. I had one on my 2006 Jeep, but it didn't seem to help much.

I think its tailgating and driving technique. There is no other explanation.
There are plenty of other explanations.

Another thing to do would be to follow the Ricky Bobby method. Just drive faster and around other cars. Dont be behind anyone. "If you're not first, its your glass"
This fits with my technique - of course, that just means you are driving into the oncoming car rocks that much faster! ;)

Windshield replacement costs have definitely gone up - especially with all the calibration that has to happen now! That's the biggest downside, IMO, to windshield replacement. I had to replace on on my F-150 and my lane-keeping and collision avoidance was never quite the same...

Not that this will protect against chips and cracks - but, I found the flat windshield was always a hot mess covered in bug splatter.

Nearly 2 months and entire windshield is still clear after a single application of System X - Glass.

This product was used by my detailed over XPEL Glass even though the rest of our Bronco was ceramic coated in XPEL because it’s proven a superior product for many of his customers.

At least this can help with swirls and glare down the line.

If the windshield crack is inevitable, anyone had rockstar experiences with any insurance companies? Geico requires deductible for replacement, but I guess not all do...?

Beside leaving it in your driveway or garage and not driving it, nothing much. The windshield angle is about the same as the FJ Cruiser, so from experience, get ready to live with the chips/cracks or to change windshield often...
