I’ll be fine with the 2.7 ecoboost ...325 HP and 400 lb. -ft. of torque puts Wrangler, 4Runner and similar to shame. A simple tune will add another 50 hp and torque. The 3.0 ecoboost would also be amazing.
Tune, then you want more power, so you add a downpipe

Then it heatsoaks, so there's the intercooler with chargepipes

Then you say fuck it and get a CAI, need a new DV or BOV and you're St2 already, then you decide to go further

Modding a turbo engine is a gateway drug, you might not have that lift and tire budget afterwards

I worked on two turbo 4bangers, can't wait to get into a twin turbo V6

Forgot about throttle bodies, race thermostat's, and whatnot

There'll be ones built for the strip now as well

The 7.3L Godzilla was designed from the start for Forced Induction, as the Coyote as well, so it would only be a "cost" issue.
I would go with the Coyote if it’s available

So true. I have an STi with a ton of $$$ into it but I think for a 4x4 maybe downpipes, custom tune, lift, wheels and tires would suffice. But maybe not lol.

Wife's car is a twin turbo V6 Mercedes. Still under warranty, so I'm afraid to play with it, but I think Mercedes will do a tune and keep it under warranty. I'm sure they would charge an arm and leg though.

Dinan does Mercedes, not sure about the warranty though

Don't forget spark plugs and intercooler for heatsoak

I'm of the mindset it simply won't happen. That's just not the direction Ford is moving. They don't even offer a 6 cylinder in the ranger.... And it seems they are trying to phase out the V8 in the F-150...
A V6 doesn't fit in Ranger because of how it's designed (the powertrain can't fit sliding up from underneath when powertrain/body meets on the assembly line). Since it's just a modified ROW model, it wasn't designed to accomodate larger powertrains. the next gen model will account for this and fit a V6.

Renntech is the Benz preferred tuner, Dinan = BMW
Oh, nice, thank you

I'm not a Benz guy, so I wasn't officially sure. Just looked at Dinan in the past and saw they did Benz as well

My 2.7 eco losses a significant amount of seat of the pants power when it's hot out. Coyote, feels
pretty much the same. If you tune an ECO, you really need to upgrade the rest of the parts mentioned above to make it fully useful in dead summer heat.

Intercooler needs upgrading, as the stock one was only good enough for stock power and you're essentially heatsoaking

While you're at it, Charge pipes as well.

There are a number of options out there, including some not provided

This is exactly the concern I have.
Big tires, twin turbos, AZ heat, lots of idling off-road....it’s not a debate or questioning tuning capabilities and which motor makes better power cooled down on a Dyno in an air conditioned garage with a giant fan blowing on a vehicle with an open hood.

Aftermarket always has a solution to OEM's problem
